Yo'ash was seven years old when he began to reign.

In the seventh year of Yehu, Yo'ash reigned, and forty years he reigned in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Tsivyah from Be'er Sheva.

And Yo'ash did what was right in the eyes of יהוה all his days that Yehoyada the priest instructed him.

Only the high places did not turn away; still the people sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.

And Yo'ash said to the priests, 'All the silver of the holy things which is brought into the house of יהוה, the silver of those passing by, the silver of each person's valuation, all the silver which it comes upon the heart of a person to bring into the house of יהוה.'

Let the priests take for themselves, each from his acquaintance, and they shall repair the breaches of the house, for all that is found there needing repair.

And it was in the twenty-third year of King Yo'ash, the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.

And King Yo'ash called for Yehoyada the priest and for the priests, and said to them, 'Why are you not repairing the breaches of the house? And now, do not take silver from your acquaintances, for to the breaches of the house you shall give it.'

And the priests agreed not to take silver from the people, and not to repair the breaches of the house.

And Yehoyada the priest took a chest, and he pierced a hole in its lid, and he set it beside the altar, on the right as one enters the house of יהוה. And the priests, the keepers of the threshold, put there all the silver brought into the house of יהוה.

And it was when they saw that the silver was abundant in the chest, the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they bound it up and counted the silver found in the house of יהוה.

And they gave the counted silver into the hands of the workers who were appointed over the house of יהוה, and they paid it out to the woodworkers and builders who worked on the house of יהוה.

And to the masons and stonecutters, and to buy timber and cut stone for repairing the breaches of the house of יהוה, and for all that went out on the house for repair.

Only, the house of יהוה shall not be made with silver basins, snuffers, sprinkling bowls, trumpets, any gold vessel, or any silver vessel, from the silver brought into the house of יהוה.

For to the workers it shall be given, and they shall repair with it the house of יהוה.

And they shall not hold accountable the men who gave the silver into their hands to give to the workers, for they worked faithfully.

The silver of guilt offerings and the silver of sin offerings shall not be brought into the house of יהוה; to the priests they shall belong.

Then Hazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gat, and he captured it. And Hazael set his face to go up against Yerushalayim.

And Yo'ash king of Yehudah took all the holy things which Yehoshafat and Yehoram and Aḥazyahu, his fathers, kings of Yehudah, had consecrated, and his own holy things, and all the gold found in the treasuries of the house of יהוה and the house of the king, and he sent them to Hazael king of Aram, and he went up from Yerushalayim.

And the rest of the deeds of Yo'ash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

And his servants arose and conspired, and they struck Yo'ash in the house of Millo, going down to Silla.

For Jozakar son of Shim'at and Yehozavad son of Shomer, his servants, struck him, and he died. And they buried him with his fathers in the city of David. And Amatsyah his son reigned in his place.
