Menasheh was twelve years old when he began to rule, and he ruled fifty-five years in Yerushalayim.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה according to the detestable practices of the nations whom יהוה had dispossessed before the people of Yisra'el.

And he turned and rebuilt the high places which Yeḥizqiyah, his father, had torn down, and he set up altars to the Ba'alim, and made Asherah poles, and he bowed down to all the host of the heavens, and he served them.

And he built altars in the house of יהוה, about which יהוה had said, 'My name will be in Yerushalayim forever.'

And he built altars to all the host of the heavens in the two courtyards of the house of יהוה.

And he caused his sons to pass through fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and he practiced sorcery, and divined, and practiced witchcraft, and appointed spiritists and fortune-tellers. He did much evil in the eyes of יהוה, to provoke Him.

And he set the carved image of the idol, which he made, in the house of Elohim, about which Elohim had said to David and to Shlomo, his son, 'In this house and in Yerushalayim, which I have chosen from all the tribes of Yisra'el, I will put My name forever.'

'And I will not again remove the foot of Yisra'el from the land which I appointed for your fathers, only if they are careful to do all that I commanded them, according to all the Torah, and the statutes, and the ordinances by the hand of Mosheh.'

And Menasheh led Yehudah and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim astray to do evil more than the nations whom יהוה had destroyed before the people of Yisra'el.

And יהוה spoke to Menasheh and to his people, but they paid no attention.

And יהוה brought against them the commanders of the army of the king of Ashshur, and they captured Menasheh with hooks, and bound him with bronze chains, and led him away to Babel.

And when he was distressed, he appeased the face of יהוה his Elohim, and he humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers.

And he prayed to Him, and He was entreated by him, and heard his plea, and restored him to Yerushalayim to his kingdom. And Menasheh knew that יהוה, He is Elohim.

And after this, he built an outer wall to the city of David, west of Gihon in the valley, and to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and he surrounded the Ophel, and he raised it very high. And he put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities of Yehudah.

And he removed the foreign elohim and the idol from the house of יהוה, and all the altars which he had built on the mountain of the house of יהוה and in Yerushalayim, and he threw them outside the city.

And he rebuilt the altar of יהוה, and sacrificed on it offerings of well-being and thanksgiving, and he commanded Yehudah to serve יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el.

However, the people were still sacrificing on the high places, but only to יהוה their Elohim.

And the rest of the words of Menasheh, and his prayer to his Elohim, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, behold, they are in the words of the kings of Yisra'el.

And his prayer, and how he was entreated by Him, and all his sin and his rebellion, and the places where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols, before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the words of the seers.

And Menasheh rested with his fathers, and they buried him in his house, and Amon his son ruled in his place.

Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to rule, and he ruled two years in Yerushalayim.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, as Menasheh his father had done, and to all the idols which Menasheh his father had made, Amon sacrificed and served them.

And he did not humble himself before יהוה, as Menasheh his father had humbled himself, but Amon greatly increased his guilt.

And his servants conspired against him, and they killed him in his house.

And the people of the land struck down all who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Yoshiyyahu his son king in his place.
