Twenty years old was Aha'az when he began to reign, and sixteen years he reigned in Yerushalayim, and he did not do what was right in the eyes of יהוה, like David his father.

And he walked in the ways of the kings of Yisra'el, and also made cast idols for the Ba'alim.

And he sacrificed in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom, and he burned his sons in fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom יהוה dispossessed from before the children of Yisra'el.

And he sacrificed and offered incense on the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.

And יהוה his Elohim gave him into the hand of the king of Aram, and they struck him and captured from him a great captivity, and they brought them to Damascus. And also into the hand of the king of Yisra'el he was given, and he struck him with a great blow.

And Pekah son of Remalyahu killed in Yehudah one hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them men of valor, because they abandoned יהוה, the Elohim of their fathers.

And Zikri, a mighty man of Efrayim, killed Ma'aseyah son of the king, and Azriqam, the ruler of the house, and Elqanah, the second-in-command to the king.

And the children of Yisra'el captured from their brothers two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters, and also much spoil they plundered from them, and they brought the spoil to Shomron.

And there was a prophet of יהוה there, Oded was his name, and he went out before the army that came to Shomron, and he said to them, 'Behold, because of the wrath of יהוה, the Elohim of your fathers, upon Yehudah, He gave them into your hand, and you killed them in fury that reached the heavens.'

'And now, you children of Yehudah and Yerushalayim, you say to conquer for yourselves male and female slaves. Is it not only that you yourselves have guilt before יהוה your Elohim?'

'And now, hear me, and return the captives whom you captured from your brothers, because the wrath of יהוה is upon you.'

'At that time, King Aha'az sent to the kings of Ashshur for help.'

'For Aha'az divided the house of יהוה and the house of the king and the officials, and he gave it to the king of Ashshur, and it was not for his help.'

'And in his time of distress, he, King Aha'az, added even more to his rebellion against יהוה.'

'And he sacrificed to the elohim of Damascus, who struck him, and he said, 'Because the elohim of the kings of Aram are helping them, I will sacrifice, and they will help me.' But they were a cause of stumbling to him and to all Yisra'el.'

'And Aha'az gathered the vessels of the house of the Elohim, and he cut in pieces the vessels of the house of the Elohim, and he closed the doors of the house of יהוה, and he made for himself altars in every corner in Yerushalayim.'

'And in every city and town of Yehudah he made high places to offer incense to other elohim, and he provoked יהוה, the Elohim of his fathers.'

'And the rest of his deeds and all his ways, the former and the latter, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yehudah and Yisra'el.'

'And Aha'az rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Yerushalayim, because they did not bring him to the graves of the kings of Yisra'el. And Yeḥizqiyahu his son reigned in his place.'
