Amaziahu was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Yeho'adan from Yerushalayim.

And he did what was right in the eyes of יהוה, but not with a whole heart.

And it happened, when the kingship was strong over him, that he killed his servants who struck down the king his father.

And their children he did not kill, for as it is written in the Torah in the book of Mosheh, which יהוה commanded, saying, 'Fathers shall not die for children, and children shall not die for fathers, but each man shall die for his own sin.'

And Amaziahu gathered Yehudah and set them up according to their fathers' houses, for captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, for all Yehudah and Binyamin. And he mustered them from twenty years old and upward, and found them 300,000 choice men, going out to war, holding a spear and a shield.

And he hired from Yisra'el 100,000 mighty warriors for 100 talents of silver.

And a man of Elohim came to him, saying, 'O king, let the army of Yisra'el not go with you, for יהוה is not with Yisra'el, with all the sons of Efrayim.

But if you go, do it strongly for the war; Elohim will make you stumble before the enemy, for there is power with Elohim to help and to make stumble.'

And Amaziahu said to the man of Elohim, 'And what about the hundred talents which I gave to the army of Yisra'el?' And the man of Elohim said, 'יהוה has power to give you much more than this.'

And Amaziahu separated them, the army that came to him from Efrayim, to go to their own place. And their anger burned greatly against Yehudah, and they returned to their place in great anger.

And Amaziahu strengthened himself, and led his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck down the sons of 'Esav, ten thousand.

And ten thousand living men the sons of Yehudah captured, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, and all of them were broken.

And the men of the army whom Amaziahu sent back from going with him to the war, they raided the cities of Yehudah, from Shomron even to Beth-Ḥoron, and struck down from them three thousand, and plundered much spoil.

And it happened, after Amaziahu returned from striking down the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the sons of 'Esav, and set them up for himself as gods, and bowed down before them, and burned incense to them.

And the anger of יהוה burned against Amaziahu, and he sent a prophet to him, and he said to him, 'Why have you sought the gods of the people who did not deliver their people from your hand?'

And it happened, as he spoke to him, he said to him, 'Are you the king's counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?' And the prophet stopped, and said, 'I know that Elohim has counseled to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.'

And Amaziahu king of Yehudah consulted, and sent to Yo'ash son of Yeho'aḥaz son of Yehu, king of Yisra'el, saying, 'Let us see each other face to face.'

And Yo'ash king of Yisra'el sent to Amaziahu king of Yehudah, saying, 'The thornbush which is in the Lebanon sent to the cedar which is in the Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son as a wife. And a wild animal which is in the Lebanon passed by and trampled the thornbush.

You said, 'Behold, you have struck down Edom,' and your heart has become proud to boast. Now sit in your house. Why do you provoke disaster, so that you and Yehudah fall with you?'

But Amaziahu did not listen, for it was from Elohim, so that he might give them into the hand of the enemy, because they sought the gods of Edom.

And Yo'ash king of Yisra'el went up, and he and Amaziahu king of Yehudah saw each other face to face in Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Yehudah.

And Yehudah was struck down before Yisra'el, and each man fled to his tent.

And Amaziahu king of Yehudah, son of Yo'ash son of Yeho'aḥaz, Yo'ash king of Yisra'el captured in Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Yerushalayim, and broke down the wall of Yerushalayim from the Gate of Efrayim to the Corner Gate, four hundred cubits.

And all the gold and silver, and all the vessels found in the house of Elohim with Obed-Edom, and the treasuries of the king's house, and the sons of the hostages, and he returned to Shomron.

And Amaziahu son of Yo'ash king of Yehudah lived fifteen years after the death of Yo'ash son of Yeho'aḥaz king of Yisra'el.

And the rest of the deeds of Amaziahu, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yehudah and Yisra'el.

And from the time that Amaziahu turned away from יהוה, they conspired against him in Yerushalayim, and he fled to Lakish. And they sent after him to Lakish, and killed him there.

And they carried him on horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Yehudah.
