And the inhabitants of Yerushalayim installed Aḥazyahu his youngest son as king in his place, because all the older ones the raiding party that came with the Arabs to the camp had killed. And Aḥazyahu son of Yehoram, king of Yehudah, reigned.

Aḥazyahu was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Yerushalayim. And his mother's name was 'Atalyahu, daughter of 'Omri.

He also walked in the ways of the house of Aḥab, for his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה, like the house of Aḥab, for they were his counselors after his father's death, to his destruction.

He also walked according to their counsel, and he went with Yehoram son of Aḥab, king of Yisra'el, to war against Ḥaza'el, king of Aram, at Ramot in Gil'ad. And the Arameans struck Yehoram.

And he returned to be healed in Yizre'el, because of the wounds with which they wounded him at Ramah when he fought against Ḥaza'el, king of Aram. And 'Azaryahu son of Yehoram, king of Yehudah, went down to see Yehoram son of Aḥab in Yizre'el, because he was sick.

And it was from Elohim that the downfall of Aḥazyahu came to Yehoram. And when he came, he went out with Yehoram against Yehu son of Nimshi, whom יהוה had anointed to cut off the house of Aḥab.

And it happened when Yehu judged the house of Aḥab, that he found the officials of Yehudah and the sons of the brothers of Aḥazyahu, who were serving Aḥazyahu, and he killed them.

And he searched for Aḥazyahu, and they captured him, and he was hiding in Shomron. And they brought him to Yehu, and he killed him. And they buried him, because they said, 'He is the son of Yehoshafat, who sought יהוה with all his heart.' And there was no one in the house of Aḥazyahu to hold power for the kingdom.

And 'Atalyahu, the mother of Aḥazyahu, saw that her son was dead, and she arose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Yehudah.

And Yehosheva', daughter of the king, took Yo'ash son of Aḥazyahu, and she stole him from among the king's sons who were killed, and she gave him and his nurse in the chamber of beds. And Yehosheva', daughter of King Yehoram, wife of Yehoyada' the priest, hid him, for she was the sister of Aḥazyahu, because of 'Atalyahu, and she did not kill him.

And he was with them in the house of Elohim, hidden for six years, and 'Atalyahu reigned over the land.
