In year thirty-six of Ba'asha king of Yisra'el's reign, he went up against Yehudah and built Ramah to prevent anyone from going out or coming in to Asa king of Yehudah.

And Asa took silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of יהוה and the house of the king, and sent to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying:

A covenant between me and you, and between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold. Go, break your covenant with Ba'asha king of Yisra'el, so that he may go up from me.

And Ben-Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Yisra'el. And they struck Iyion, and Dan, and 'Avel-Mayim, and all the store cities of Naftali.

And it happened when Ba'asha heard, and he stopped building Ramah, and he stopped his work.

And king Asa took all of Yehudah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and its timbers, which Ba'asha had built, and with them he built Geva and Ha-Mitzpah.

And at that time, Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Yehudah, and said to him, 'Because you relied on the king of Aram, and you did not rely on יהוה your Elohim, therefore the army of the king of Aram escaped from your hand.

Were not the Cushites and the Lubites a great army, with chariots and horsemen, very many? And because you relied on יהוה, he gave them into your hand.

For the eyes of יהוה roam throughout the whole earth to strengthen those whose hearts are whole toward him. You acted foolishly because of this; for from now on there will be wars with you.'

And Asa was angry with the seer, and he put him in the house of confinement, because he was furious with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

And behold, the first and last deeds of Asa, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yehudah and Yisra'el.

And Asa became sick in his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, a severe sickness up to his upper parts. And even in his sickness, he did not seek יהוה, but sought physicians.

And Asa lay down with his fathers, and he died in the forty-first year of his reign.

And they buried him in his graves, which he had dug for himself in the city of David. And they laid him in the bed which he filled with spices and perfumes, a mixture of perfumer's work. And they made a very great burning for him.
