And it happened, when Reḥav'am established the kingdom and when he strengthened himself, he abandoned the teaching of יהוה, and all Yisra'el with him.

And it happened in the fifth year of King Reḥav'am, Shishak king of Mitsrayim came up against Yerushalayim, because they had trespassed against יהוה.

With one thousand and two hundred chariots, and with sixty thousand horsemen, and no number for the people who came with him from Mitsrayim: Lubim, Sukkiim, and Kushim.

And he captured the fortified cities of Yehudah, and he came as far as Yerushalayim.

And Shema'yah the prophet came to Reḥav'am and to the princes of Yehudah who had gathered to Yerushalayim because of Shishak, and he said to them, 'Thus says יהוה, 'You abandoned me, and I also abandoned you into the hand of Shishak.''

And the princes of Yisra'el and the king humbled themselves and said, 'Adonai is righteous.'

And when יהוה saw that they humbled themselves, the word of יהוה came to Shema'yah, saying, 'They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them, and I will give them a little bit of escape, and my wrath will not be poured out on Yerushalayim by the hand of Shishak.'

For they will be his servants, and they will know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the lands.'

And Shishak king of Mitsrayim came up against Yerushalayim, and he captured the treasures of the house of יהוה and the treasures of the king's house; he took all. And he took the gold shields that Shelomoh had made.

And King Reḥav'am made bronze shields in their place, and he entrusted them to the hand of the officers of the runners who guarded the entrance of the king's house.

And it happened, whenever the king went into the house of יהוה, the runners would come and carry them, and return them to the runners' chamber.

And when he humbled himself, the anger of יהוה also turned away from him, not to destroy completely, and also in Yehudah there were good things.

And King Reḥav'am strengthened himself in Yerushalayim and reigned. Reḥav'am was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Yerushalayim, the city which יהוה had chosen from all the tribes of Yisra'el to put his name there. And his mother's name was Na'amah the Ammonite.

And he did evil, because he did not set his heart to seek יהוה.

And the first and last acts of Reḥav'am, are they not written in the acts of Shema'yah the prophet and of 'Iddo the seer, for genealogies, and the wars of Reḥav'am and Yarov'am all the days?

And Reḥav'am lay down with his fathers and was buried in the city of David. And Aviyah his son reigned in his place.
