And they dwelt three years, no war between Aram and Yisra'el.

And it happened in the third year, Yehoshafat king of Yehudah went down to the king of Yisra'el.

And the king of Yisra'el said to his servants, 'Do you know that Ramot Gil'ad is ours, and we are silent from taking it from the hand of the king of Aram?'

And he said to Yehoshafat, 'Will you go with me to war to Ramot Gil'ad?' And Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, 'Like me, like you; like my people, like your people; like my horses, like your horses.'

And Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, 'Inquire now, today, the word of יהוה.'

And the king of Yisra'el gathered the prophets, about four hundred men, and said to them, 'Shall I go against Ramot Gil'ad to war, or shall I refrain?' And they said, 'Go up, and Adonai will give it into the hand of the king.'

And Yehoshafat said, 'Is there not here yet a prophet of יהוה, and we can inquire from him?'

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'There is yet one man to inquire of יהוה from him, and I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. He is Mikay'hu son of Yimlah.' And Yehoshafat said, 'Let the king not say so.'

And the king of Yisra'el called an officer and said, 'Hurry, Mikay'hu son of Yimlah.'

And the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat king of Yehudah were sitting, each on his throne, clothed in garments, in the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Shomron, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

And Tsidqiyahu son of Kena'anah made himself horns of iron, and he said, 'Thus says יהוה, With these you will gore Aram until they are finished.'

And all the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, 'Go up to Ramot Gil'ad and succeed, and יהוה will give it into the hand of the king.'

And the messenger who went to call Mikay'hu spoke to him, saying, 'Behold now, the words of the prophets are one voice for good to the king. Let your word be, please, like the word of one of them, and speak good.'

And Mikay'hu said, 'As יהוה lives, whatever יהוה says to me, that I will speak.'

And he came to the king, and the king said to him, 'Mikay'hu, shall we go to Ramot Gil'ad to war, or shall we refrain?' And he said to him, 'Go up and succeed, and יהוה will give it into the hand of the king.'

And the king said to him, 'How many times must I make you swear that you will speak to me only truth in the name of יהוה?'

And he said, 'I saw all Yisra'el scattered on the mountains like sheep that have no shepherd. And יהוה said, These have no master; let them return, each man to his house, in peace.'

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'Did I not tell you, he will not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?'

And he said, 'Therefore, hear the word of יהוה. I saw יהוה sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him, on his right and on his left.'

And יהוה said, 'Who will entice Ach'av, so that he may go up and fall at Ramot Gil'ad?' And one said thus, and another said thus.

And a spirit came out and stood before יהוה, and said, 'I will entice him.' And יהוה said to him, 'With what?'

And he said, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he said, 'You will entice, and you will also succeed. Go out and do so.'

And now, behold, יהוה has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and יהוה has spoken evil concerning you.

And Tsidqiyahu son of Kena'anah came up and struck Mikay'hu on the cheek, and said, 'Which way did the spirit of יהוה pass from me to speak to you?'

And Mikay'hu said, 'You will see on that day, when you go from room to room to hide.'

And the king of Yisra'el said, 'Take Mikay'hu and return him to Amon, the ruler of the city, and to Yo'ash, the king's son.'

And say, 'Thus says the king, Put this one in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction until I return in peace.'

And Mikay'hu said, 'If you return in peace, יהוה has not spoken by me.' And he said, 'Hear, all you peoples.'

And the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat king of Yehudah went up to Ramot Gil'ad.

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'Disguise yourself and go into the battle, and you, put on your garments.' And the king of Yisra'el disguised himself and went into the battle.

And the king of Aram commanded the captains of his chariots, thirty-two, saying, 'You shall not fight, small or great, except the king of Yisra'el, alone.'

And it happened when the captains of the chariots saw Yehoshafat, they said, 'Surely it is the king of Yisra'el.' And they turned against him to fight, and Yehoshafat cried out.

And it happened when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Yisra'el, they turned back from pursuing him.

And a man drew a bow at random and struck the king of Yisra'el between the joints and the breastplate, and he said to his charioteer, 'Turn your hand and take me out of the camp, for I am wounded.'

And the battle rose up on that day, and the king was propped up in the chariot facing Aram, and he died in the evening, and the blood of the wound ran into the body of the chariot.

And a cry went through the camp as the sun set, saying, 'Every man to his city, and every man to his land.'

And the king died and came to Shomron, and they buried the king in Shomron.

And they washed the chariot at the pool of Shomron, and the dogs licked up his blood, and the prostitutes washed, according to the word of יהוה which he spoke.

And the rest of the words of Ach'av, and all that he did, and the house of ivory which he built, and all the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?

And Ach'av slept with his fathers, and Achazyahu his son reigned in his place.

And Yehoshafat son of Asa began to reign over Yehudah in the fourth year of Ach'av king of Yisra'el.

Yehoshafat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was Azuvah daughter of Shilḥi.

And he walked in all the way of Asa his father; he did not turn aside from it, to do what was right in the eyes of יהוה.

Only, the high places were not removed; still the people sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.

And Yehoshafat made peace with the king of Yisra'el.

And the rest of the deeds of Yehoshafat, and his might which he did, and how he fought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

And the remnant of the male cult prostitutes, which remained in the days of Asa his father, he removed from the land.

And there was no king in Edom; a deputy was king.

Yehoshafat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ofir for gold, but they did not go, because the ships were broken at Etzyon Gever.

Then Achazyahu son of Ach'av said to Yehoshafat, 'Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.' But Yehoshafat was not willing.

And Yehoshafat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Yehoram his son reigned in his place.

Achazyahu son of Ach'av began to reign over Yisra'el in Shomron in the seventeenth year of Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, and he reigned over Yisra'el two years.

And he did evil in the eyes of יהוה and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Yarov'am son of Nevat, who caused Yisra'el to sin.

And he served the Ba'al and bowed down to it, and he provoked יהוה Elohim of Yisra'el to anger, just as all that his father had done.
