And Eliyahu the Tishbite, from the inhabitants of Gil'ad, said to Aḥav, 'As יהוה Elohim of Yisra'el lives, before whom I stand, there will be no dew and no rain these years, except according to my word.'

And the word of יהוה came to him, saying:

'Go from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the stream of Kerit, which is east of the Yarden.'

'And it will be, from the stream you will drink, and the ravens I have commanded to sustain you there.'

'So he went and did according to the word of יהוה. He went and settled by the stream of Kerit, which is east of the Yarden.'

'And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and from the stream he drank.'

'And it happened, after some days, the stream dried up, because there was no rain in the land.'

'And the word of יהוה came to him, saying:'

'Arise, go to Tsarefat, which belongs to Tsidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain you.'

'So he arose and went to Tsarefat. And he came to the entrance of the city, and behold, there was a widow woman gathering wood. And he called to her and said, 'Please take for me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.''

'And she went to take it, and he called to her and said, 'Please take for me a piece of bread in your hand.''

'And she said, 'As יהוה your Elohim lives, there is no baked cake with me, only a handful of flour in the jar and a little oil in the jug. And behold, I am gathering two sticks, and I will go in and make it for myself and for my son, and we will eat it and die.''

'And Eliyahu said to her, 'Do not fear. Go, do according to your word. Only, make for me from there a small cake first, and bring it out to me, and for yourself and for your son you shall make afterwards.''

'For thus says יהוה Elohim of Yisra'el: The jar of flour will not be depleted, and the jug of oil will not run out until the day יהוה sends rain on the face of the land.'

'So she went and did according to the word of Eliyahu. And she ate, she and he and her household, for days.'

'The jar of flour was not depleted, and the jug of oil did not run out, according to the word of יהוה, which he spoke by the hand of Eliyahu.'

'And it happened after these words, the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick. And his sickness was very severe, so that no breath remained in him.'

'And she said to Eliyahu, 'What to me and to you, man of Elohim? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to kill my son.''

'And he said to her, 'Give me your son.' And he took him from her embrace, and he carried him up to the upper room where he was staying, and he laid him on his bed.'

'And he cried out to יהוה and said, 'יהוה my Elohim, have you also brought harm to the widow with whom I am staying, by killing her son?'

'And he stretched himself over the child three times, and he cried out to יהוה and said, 'יהוה my Elohim, please let the soul of this child return to within him.''

'And יהוה heard the voice of Eliyahu, and the soul of the child returned to within him, and he lived.'

'And Eliyahu took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and he gave him to his mother. And Eliyahu said, 'Behold, your son lives.''

'And the woman said to Eliyahu, 'Now I know that you are a man of Elohim, and the word of יהוה in your mouth is truth.''
