And King Shelomoh loved many foreign women, and also the daughter of Pharaoh, Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, Hittite women.

From the nations about which יהוה had spoken to the sons of Yisra'el, 'You shall not go in among them, and they shall not go in among you; surely they will turn your heart after their gods.' To these Shelomoh clung in love.

And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned his heart.

And it came to pass, in the old age of Shelomoh, his wives turned his heart after other elohim, and his heart was not whole with יהוה his Elohim, as was the heart of David his father.

And Shelomoh went after Ashtoreth, the elohim of the Sidonians, and after Milcom, the abomination of the Ammonites.

And Shelomoh did that which was evil in the sight of יהוה, and did not fully follow יהוה, as did David his father.

Then Shelomoh built a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Mo'av, on the mountain which is east of Yerushalayim, and for Molech, the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

And so he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their elohim.

And יהוה was angry with Shelomoh, because he had turned his heart from יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, who had appeared to him twice.

And He commanded him concerning this matter, not to go after other elohim, and he did not keep that which יהוה commanded.

And יהוה said to Shelomoh, 'Because this has been with you, and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes which I commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and give it to your servant.'

However, in your days I will not do it, for the sake of David your father; from the hand of your son I will tear it.

Only, I will not tear away the whole kingdom; one tribe I will give to your son, for the sake of David My servant, and for the sake of Yerushalayim which I have chosen.

And יהוה raised up an adversary to Shelomoh, Hadad the Edomite, from the royal seed, he was in Edom.

And it came to pass, when David was in Edom, when Yo'av, the commander of the army, went to bury the slain, and struck down every male in Edom.

For Yo'av stayed there six months with all Yisra'el, until he had cut off every male in Edom.

And Hadad fled, he and certain Edomite men, servants of his father, with him, to go to Mitsrayim, and Hadad was a young boy.

And they arose from Midyan and came to Paran, and took men with them from Paran, and came to Mitsrayim, to Par'oh, king of Mitsrayim. And he gave him a house, and appointed him food, and gave him land.

And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Par'oh, and he gave him in marriage the sister of his wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

And the sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, and Tahpenes weaned him in the house of Par'oh. And Genubath was in the house of Par'oh among the sons of Par'oh.

And Hadad heard in Mitsrayim that David had slept with his fathers, and that Yo'av, the commander of the army, was dead. And Hadad said to Par'oh, 'Send me away, and I will go to my land.'

And Par'oh said to him, 'Why should you want to go to your land? What is lacking with me that you seek to go to your land?' And he said, 'No, but surely send me away.'

And Elohim raised up for him an adversary, Rezon the son of Eliada, who had fled from Hadadezer, king of Tzovah, his master.

And he gathered men to him, and became captain of a raiding band, when David struck them down. And they went to Damascus, and lived there, and reigned in Damascus.

And he was an adversary to Yisra'el all the days of Shelomoh, along with the trouble from Hadad. And he was disgusted with Yisra'el, and reigned over Aram.

And Yarov'am the son of Nevat, an Efrayimite from Tzeredah, and his mother's name was Tzru'ah, a widow, was a servant to Shelomoh, and he raised his hand against the king.

And this is the reason he raised his hand against King Shelomoh: Shelomoh built the Millo, and closed the breach of the city of David his father.

And the man Yarov'am was a mighty warrior, and Shelomoh saw that the young man was a capable worker, and he appointed him over all the labor force of the house of Yosef.

And it came to pass at that time, that Yarov'am went out from Yerushalayim, and Ahiyah the Shilonite, the prophet, met him on the road, and he was wearing a new cloak, and the two of them were alone in the field.

And Ahiyah grasped the new cloak that was on him, and tore it into twelve pieces.

And he said to Yarov'am, 'Take for yourself ten pieces, for thus says יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, 'Behold, I am about to tear the kingdom from the hand of Shelomoh, and I will give to you ten tribes.'

And one tribe will be his, for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yisra'el.

Because they have forsaken Me and have bowed down to Ashtoreth, the elohim of the Sidonians, to Chemosh, the elohim of Mo'av, and to Milcom, the elohim of the sons of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways, to do what is right in My sight, and My statutes and My judgments, as did David his father.

And I will not take the whole kingdom from his hand, but I will make him ruler all the days of his life, for the sake of David My servant, whom I chose, who kept My commandments and My statutes.

And I will take the kingship from his son's hand and give it to you, even the ten tribes.

And to his son I will give one tribe, so that there may be a lamp for David My servant always before Me in Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen for Myself to put My name there.

And I will take you, and you shall reign over all that your soul desires, and you shall be king over Yisra'el.

And it shall be, if you listen to all that I command you, and walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then I will be with you, and I will build you an enduring house, as I built for David, and I will give Yisra'el to you.

And I will afflict the offspring of David for this reason, but not forever.

And Shelomoh sought to kill Yarov'am, and Yarov'am arose and fled to Mitsrayim, to Shishak, king of Mitsrayim, and he was in Mitsrayim until the death of Shelomoh.

And the rest of the matters of Shelomoh, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the matters of Shelomoh?

And the days that Shelomoh reigned in Yerushalayim over all Yisra'el were forty years.

And Shelomoh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father, and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
