And David was old and full of days, and he made Shelomoh his son king over Yisra'el.

And he gathered all the officers of Yisra'el, the priests, and the Levites.

And the Levites were numbered from a son of thirty years and upward, and the number of their heads, for men, was thirty and eight thousand.

From these, twenty and four thousand to oversee the work of the house of יהוה, and six thousand officers and judges.

And four thousand gatekeepers, and four thousand praising יהוה with instruments which I made for praise.

And David divided them into divisions for the sons of Levi: for Gershon, for Kehat, and for Merari.

For the Gershunites: La'adan and Shim'i.

Sons of La'adan: the chief Yeḥi'el, and Zetham, and Yo'el, three.

Sons of Shim'i: Shlomit, and Ḥazi'el, and Haran, three. These are the heads of the fathers for La'adan.

And sons of Shim'i: Yaḥat, Ziza, Ye'ush, and Beri'ah. These are the sons of Shim'i, four.

And Yaḥat was the chief, and Ziza the second, and Ye'ush and Beri'ah did not have many sons, and they became for a father's house for one assignment.

Sons of Kehat: Amram, Yitshar, Ḥevron, and Uzzi'el, four.

Sons of Amram: Aharon and Mosheh. And Aharon was set apart to make holy the most holy things, he and his sons, forever, to offer incense before יהוה, to serve him, and to bless in his name forever.

And Mosheh, the man of Elohim, his sons were called by the tribe of Levi.

Sons of Mosheh: Gershom and Eli'ezer.

Sons of Gershom: Shevu'el the chief.

And the sons of Eli'ezer were Reḥavyah the chief, and Eli'ezer did not have other sons, and the sons of Reḥavyah multiplied greatly.

Sons of Yitshar: Shlomit the chief.

Sons of Ḥevron: Yeriyahu the chief, Amaryah the second, Yaḥazi'el the third, and Yiqam'am the fourth.

Sons of Uzzi'el: Mikah the chief, and Yishiyyah the second.

Sons of Merari: Maḥli and Mushi. Sons of Maḥli: Ele'azar and Qish.

And Ele'azar died, and he did not have sons, only daughters, and the sons of Qish, their brothers, took them.

Sons of Mushi: Maḥli, and Eder, and Yeremot, three.

These are the sons of Levi, according to their fathers' houses, the heads of the fathers, by their assignments, by the number of names, for their heads, the workers for the service of the house of יהוה, from a son of twenty years and upward.

For David said, 'יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Yerushalayim forever.'

And also for the Levites, there is no need to carry the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service.

For by the last words of David, these were the number of the sons of Levi, from a son of twenty years and upward.

For their station was by the side of the sons of Aharon for the service of the house of יהוה, in the courtyards, and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of Elohim.

And for the showbread, and for fine flour for a grain offering, and for the wafers of unleavened bread, and for the pan, and for the baked offering, and for all measurement and quantity.

And to stand every morning to give thanks and to praise יהוה, and likewise in the evening.

And for all the offerings of burnt offerings to יהוה, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the appointed times, by number, according to the ordinance concerning them, continually before יהוה.

And they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aharon their brothers, for the service of the house of יהוה.
