A prayer of Ḥavaqquq the prophet, concerning the things he cried out about.

יהוה, I have heard your report; I am afraid. יהוה, your deeds from long ago, make them live again in the midst of the years. In the midst of the years make them known; in wrath, remember mercy.

Elohim comes from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His splendor covers the heavens, and the earth is full of his praise.

And there is a brightness like light; rays are from his hand, and there is the hiding of his strength.

Before him goes a plague, and burning coals go forth at his feet.

He stood and measured the earth; he looked and made the nations tremble. The eternal mountains were shattered; the ancient hills bowed low. His ways are eternal.

I saw the tents of Kushan in distress; the curtains of the land of Midyan were shaken.

Was your wrath against the rivers, יהוה? Was your anger against the rivers, or against the sea, that you rode on your horses, your chariots of salvation?

Your bow was stripped bare, sworn by the rods of the word. Selah. You split the earth with rivers.

The mountains saw you and writhed; a torrent of water passed by. The deep gave forth its voice, lifting its hands on high.

Sun and moon stood still in their dwelling places, at the light of your arrows they went, at the shining of your flashing spear.

In anger you strode through the earth; in wrath you threshed the nations.

You went out for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of your anointed one. You crushed the head from the house of the wicked, laying bare the foundation to the neck. Selah.

You pierced with his own weapons the head of his warriors; they stormed to scatter me, their exultation like devouring a poor man in secret.

You tread the sea with your horses, the churning of mighty waters.

I heard, and my body trembled; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness entered my bones, and I trembled where I stood, that I might rest on the day of trouble, when he comes up against the people who invade us.

For though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no fruit on the vines; though the yield of the olive fails, and the fields produce no food; though the flock is cut off from the fold, and there are no cattle in the stalls.

Yet I will rejoice in יהוה; I will exult in the Elohim of my salvation.
