And the famine was severe in the land.

And it happened when they finished eating the grain which they brought from Mitsrayim, and their father said to them, 'Return, buy us a little food.'

And Yehudah said to him, saying, 'The man warned us, saying, 'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.''

'If you are sending our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food.'

'And if you are not sending him, we will not go down, because the man said to us, 'You will not see my face unless your brother is with you.''

'And Yisra'el said, 'Why did you do evil to me, to tell the man that you still have a brother?'

'And they said, 'The man asked about us and our family, saying, 'Is your father still alive? Do you have a brother?' And we told him according to these words. Did we know that he would say, 'Bring down your brother?'

'And Yehudah said to Yisra'el his father, 'Send the young man with me, and we will arise and go, and we will live and not die, both we and you and our little ones.'

'I will be his guarantee. From my hand you will seek him. If I do not bring him to you and present him before you, then I will have sinned against you all the days.'

'For if we had not delayed, surely now we would have returned twice.'

'And Yisra'el their father said to them, 'If it is so, then do this: Take from the best of the land in your vessels and bring down to the man a gift, a little balm and a little honey, spices and gum, nuts and almonds.'

'And take double money in your hand, and the money returned in the mouth of your bags, return it in your hand. Perhaps it was a mistake.'

'And take your brother, and arise, and return to the man.'

'And El Shaddai will grant you mercy before the man, and he will send your other brother and Binyamin. And I, as I am bereaved, I am bereaved.'

'And the men took this gift, and they took double money in their hand, and Binyamin, and they arose and went down to Mitsrayim, and they stood before Yosef.

'And Yosef saw with them Binyamin, and he said to the one over his house, 'Bring the men into the house, and slaughter a slaughter, and prepare, because with me the men will eat at noon.'

'And the man did as Yosef said, and the man brought the men into the house of Yosef.

'And the men were afraid because they were brought into the house of Yosef, and they said, 'Because of the money returned in our bags at first, we are brought in to roll over us and to fall upon us and to take us as slaves, and our donkeys.'

'And they approached the man who was over the house of Yosef, and they spoke to him at the entrance of the house.

'And they said, 'My Adonai, we certainly came down at first to buy food.'

'And it happened when we came to the inn, and we opened our bags, and behold, each man's money in the mouth of his bag, our money by its weight. And we returned it in our hand.'

'And other money we brought down in our hand to buy food. We did not know who put our money in our bags.'

'And he said, 'Peace to you. Do not fear. Your Elohim and the Elohim of your father gave you a treasure in your bags. Your money came to me.' And he brought out Shimon to them.

'And the man brought the men into the house of Yosef, and he gave water, and they washed their feet, and he gave fodder for their donkeys.

'And they prepared the gift until Yosef came at noon, because they heard that there they would eat bread.

'And Yosef came into the house, and they brought him the gift that was in their hand into the house, and they bowed down to him to the ground.

'And he asked about their well-being, and he said, 'Is your aged father well, of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?'

'And they said, 'Peace to your servant, our father. He is still alive.' And they bowed down.

'And he lifted his eyes and saw Binyamin his brother, his mother's son, and he said, 'Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?' And he said, 'May Elohim favor you, my son.'

'And Yosef hurried, because his compassion was stirred for his brother, and he sought to weep, and he went into the chamber and wept there.

'And he washed his face and went out, and he restrained himself, and he said, 'Serve the food.'

'And they served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Mitsrites eating with him by themselves, because the Mitsrites cannot eat bread with the Hebrews, because it is an abomination to Mitsrayim.

'And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth, and the men were astonished, each man to his neighbor.

'And he took portions from before him to them, and Binyamin's portion was more than the portions of all of them, five portions. And they drank and got drunk with him.
