And he commanded him who was over his house, saying, Fill the bags of the men with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man's silver in his bag.

And put my cup, the silver cup, in the bag of the youngest, and his silver for the grain. And he did according to the word Yosef had spoken.

The morning was light, and the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.

They went out of the city, they had not gone far, and Yosef said to him who was over his house, 'Get up, pursue after the men, and when you overtake them, say to them, Why have you repaid good with evil?'

Is this not the one my master drinks from, and with which he divines? You have done evil, what you have done.

And he overtook them, and he spoke to them these words.

And they said to him, 'Why does my master speak these words? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing.'

Look, the silver that we found in our bags, we have brought back to you from the land of Kena'an. So how could we steal silver or gold from your master's house?

With whomever of your servants it is found, let him die, and also we will be my master's slaves.

And he said, 'Also now, according to your words, so it is. Whoever is found with it will be my slave, and you will be innocent.'

And they hurried, and each man lowered his bag to the ground, and each man opened his bag.

And he searched, beginning with the oldest and finishing with the youngest, and the cup was found in Binyamin's bag.

And they tore their clothes, and each man loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city.

And Yehudah and his brothers came to the house of Yosef, and he was still there, and they fell before him to the ground.

And Yosef said to them, 'What is this deed that you have done? Do you not know that a man like me divines?'

And Yehudah said, 'What can we say to my master? What can we speak, and how can we justify ourselves? Elohim has found the guilt of your servants. Look, we are slaves to my master, both we and the one in whose hand the cup was found.'

And he said, 'Far be it from me to do this! The man in whose hand the cup was found, he will be my slave, but you, go up in peace to your father.'

And Yehudah approached him and said, 'Please, my master, let your servant speak a word in my master's ears, and do not let your anger burn against your servant, for you are like Pharaoh.'

My master asked his servants, saying, 'Do you have a father or a brother?'

And we said to my master, 'We have an old father, and a young son of his old age. His brother is dead, and he is the only one left of his mother, and his father loves him.'

And you said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me, and I will set my eyes on him.'

And we said to my master, 'The young man cannot leave his father, for if he leaves his father, he will die.'

And you said to your servants, 'If your youngest brother does not come down with you, you will not see my face again.'

And it happened when we went up to your servant my father, and we told him my master's words.

And our father said, 'Go back, buy us a little food.'

And we said, 'We cannot go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down, for we cannot see the man's face if our youngest brother is not with us.'

And your servant my father said to us, 'You know that my wife bore me two sons.'

And one went out from me, and I said, 'Surely he has been torn to pieces,' and I have not seen him until now.

And if you take this one also from my presence, and disaster strikes him, you will bring my father's gray hairs down to Sheol with sorrow.

And now, when I come to your servant my father, and the young man is not with us, and his life is bound up with his life.

And it will be, when he sees that the young man is not there, he will die. And your servants will bring the gray hairs of your servant our father down to Sheol in grief.

For your servant pledged himself for the young man with my father, saying, 'If I do not bring him back to you, then I will have sinned against my father all my days.'

And now, let your servant remain as a slave to my master instead of the young man, and let the young man go up with his brothers.

For how can I go up to my father, and the young man is not with me? Lest I see the disaster that will find my father.
