And it happened, when Yitsḥaq was old, and his eyes were dim from seeing, he called 'Esav, his big son, and said to him, 'My son.' And he said to him, 'Here I am.'

And he said, 'Here now, I am old; I do not know the day of my death.'

And now, please take your tools, your quiver, and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me.

And make for me savory food, like I love, and bring it to me, and I will eat, so that my soul may bless you before I die.

And Rivqah was listening when Yitsḥaq spoke to 'Esav his son. And 'Esav went to the field to hunt game to bring.

And Rivqah said to her son Ya'aqov, saying, 'Here, I heard your father speaking to 'Esav your brother, saying:

'Bring me game and make for me savory food, and I will eat, and I will bless you before יהוה, before my death.'

And now, my son, listen to my voice, to what I command you.

Please go to the flock and take for me from there two good goat kids, and I will make them savory food for your father, like he loves.

And you will bring it to your father, and he will eat, so that he may bless you before his death.

And Ya'aqov said to Rivqah his mother, 'Here, 'Esav my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man.'

Perhaps my father will feel me, and I will be in his eyes like one who deceives, and I will bring upon myself a curse, and not a blessing.

And his mother said to him, 'Upon me be your curse, my son; only listen to my voice, and go, take for me.'

And he went and took, and brought to his mother, and his mother made savory food, like his father loved.

And Rivqah took the garments of 'Esav her big son, the desirable ones that were with her in the house, and she dressed Ya'aqov her small son.

And the skins of the goat kids she dressed upon his hands and upon the smooth part of his neck.

And she gave the savory food and the bread that she made into the hand of Ya'aqov her son.

And he came to his father and said, 'My father.' And he said, 'Here I am. Who are you, my son?'

And Ya'aqov said to his father, 'I am 'Esav your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please rise, sit, and eat of my game, so that your soul may bless me.'

And Yitsḥaq said to his son, 'How is this? You have hurried to find it, my son.' And he said, 'Because יהוה your Elohim brought it before me.'

And Yitsḥaq said to Ya'aqov, 'Please come near, and I will feel you, my son, are you this, my son 'Esav, or not?'

And Ya'aqov came near to Yitsḥaq his father, and he felt him, and he said, 'The voice is the voice of Ya'aqov, and the hands are the hands of 'Esav.'

And he did not recognize him, because his hands were like the hands of 'Esav his brother, hairy. And he blessed him.

And he said, 'Are you this, my son 'Esav?' And he said, 'I am.'

And he said, 'Bring it to me, and I will eat of my son's game, so that my soul may bless you.' And he brought it to him, and he ate. And he brought him wine, and he drank.

And Yitsḥaq his father said to him, 'Please come near and give me a drink, my son.'

And he came near and kissed him. And he smelled the smell of his garments, and he blessed him. And he said, 'See, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that יהוה has blessed.'

And may Elohim give you from the dew of the heavens, and from the fatness of the earth, and plenty of grain and new wine.

May peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brothers, and may your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be those who curse you, and blessed be those who bless you.

And it happened, when Yitsḥaq finished blessing Ya'aqov, and it happened, just as Ya'aqov went out from the presence of Yitsḥaq his father, 'Esav his brother came in from his hunting.

And he also made savory food, and brought it to his father. And he said to his father, 'Let my father rise and eat of his son's game, so that your soul may bless me.'

And Yitsḥaq his father said to him, 'Who are you?' And he said, 'I am your son, your firstborn, 'Esav.'

And Yitsḥaq trembled a great trembling, very much. And he said, 'Who then is he who hunted game and brought it to me, and I ate of everything before you came, and I blessed him? Indeed, he will be blessed.'

When 'Esav heard his father's words, he cried out a great and bitter cry, very much. And he said to his father, 'Bless me, me also, my father.'

And he said, 'Your brother came with deceit, and he took your blessing.'

And he said, 'Is it not rightly named Ya'aqov? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took my birthright, and here now he has taken my blessing.' And he said, 'Have you not reserved a blessing for me?'

And Yitsḥaq answered and said to 'Esav, 'Here, I have made him master over you, and all his brothers I have given him for servants. And with grain and new wine I have sustained him. And for you, now, what will I do, my son?'

And 'Esav said to his father, 'Is this the only blessing for you, my father? Bless me, me also, my father.' And 'Esav lifted his voice and wept.

And Yitsḥaq his father answered and said to him, 'Here, from the fatness of the earth will be your dwelling, and from the dew of the heavens from above.'

And by your sword you will live, and you will serve your brother. And it will happen, when you are restless, you will break his yoke from upon your neck.'

And 'Esav hated Ya'aqov because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. And 'Esav said in his heart, 'The days of mourning for my father are drawing near; then I will kill Ya'aqov my brother.'

And the words of 'Esav her big son were told to Rivqah. And she sent and called Ya'aqov her small son, and said to him, 'Here, 'Esav your brother is consoling himself concerning you, to kill you.'

And now, my son, listen to my voice, and arise, flee for yourself to Lavan my brother, to Ḥaran.

And you will dwell with him some days, until your brother's fury turns back.

Until your brother's anger turns back from you, and he forgets what you did to him. And I will send and take you from there. Why should I be bereaved of both of you in one day?

And Rivqah said to Yitsḥaq, 'I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Ḥet. If Ya'aqov takes a wife from the daughters of Ḥet, like these, from the daughters of the land, why do I have life?'
