And Avraham was old, advanced in days, and יהוה had blessed Avraham in everything.

And Avraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that was his, 'Please place your hand under my thigh.'

'And I will make you swear by יהוה, the Elohim of the heavens, and the Elohim of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Kena'ani, among whom I am dwelling.'

'But to my land and to my birthplace you will go, and you will take a wife for my son, for Yitsḥaq.'

And the servant said to him, 'Perhaps the woman will not be willing to go after me to this land. Should I bring your son back to the land from which you came?'

And Avraham said to him, 'Be careful for yourself, lest you bring my son back there.'

'יהוה, the Elohim of the heavens, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my birth, and who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, 'To your offspring I will give this land,' He will send His angel before you, and you will take a wife for my son from there.'

'And if the woman is not willing to go after you, then you will be free from my oath. Only, you will not bring my son back there.'

And the servant placed his hand under the thigh of Avraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.

And the servant took ten camels from his master's camels, and went. And all the good things of his master were in his hand. And he arose and went to Aram-Naharaim, to the city of Naḥor.

And he made the camels kneel outside the city, by the well of water, at the time of evening, at the time when the women who draw water come out.

And he said, 'יהוה, the Elohim of my master Avraham, please cause it to happen before me today, and show kindness to my master Avraham.'

'Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.'

'And it will be, the young woman to whom I say, 'Please lower your jar so I may drink,' and she says, 'Drink, and I will also water your camels,' may she be the one whom You have designated for Your servant, for Yitsḥaq. And by this, I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.'

And it was, before he had finished speaking, behold, Rivqah was coming out, who had been born to Betu'el, son of Milcah, wife of Naḥor, brother of Avraham. And her jar was on her shoulder.

And the young woman was very beautiful in appearance, a virgin, and no man had known her. And she went down to the spring and filled her jar and came up.

And the servant ran to meet her and said, 'Please let me drink a little water from your jar.'

And she said, 'Drink, my master.' And she hurried and lowered her jar to her hand and gave him drink.

And when she finished giving him drink, she said, 'I will also draw water for your camels until they finish drinking.'

And she hurried and poured her jar into the trough, and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew water for all his camels.

And the man was marveling at her, silent, to know whether יהוה had made his journey successful or not.

And it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a gold nose-ring, a shekel in weight, and two bracelets for her hands, ten gold in weight.

And he said, 'Daughter of whom are you? Please tell me, is there in your father's house a place for us to lodge?'

And she said to him, 'I am the daughter of Betu'el, whom Milcah bore to Naḥor.'

And she said to him, 'Both straw and fodder are abundant with us, and also a place to lodge.'

And the man bowed and prostrated himself to יהוה.

And he said, 'Blessed be יהוה, the Elohim of my master Avraham, who has not withheld His kindness and His faithfulness from my master. As for me, on the road, יהוה has guided me to the house of my master's brothers.'

And the young woman ran and told the things to her mother's house.

And Rivqah had a brother, and his name was Lavan. And Lavan ran out to the man, to the spring.

And it was, when he saw the nose-ring and the bracelets on his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rivqah his sister, saying, 'Thus the man spoke to me,' he came to the man, and behold, he was standing by the camels at the spring.

And he said, 'Come in, blessed of יהוה. Why are you standing outside? For I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.'

And the man came into the house, and he untied the camels, and he gave straw and fodder for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

And food was set before him to eat. And he said, 'I will not eat until I have spoken my words.' And he said, 'Speak.'

And the servant of Avraham said, 'I am.'

And יהוה has greatly blessed my master, and he has become great. And He has given him sheep and cattle, and silver and gold, and male servants and female servants, and camels and donkeys.

And Sarah, my master's wife, bore a son to my master after her old age, and he gave him everything that he has.

And my master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Kena'ani, in whose land I am dwelling.'

'But to my father's house you will go, and to my family, and you will take a wife for my son.'

And I said to my master, 'Perhaps the woman will not go after me.'

And he said to me, 'יהוה, before whom I have walked, He will send His angel with you and make your journey successful, and you will take a wife for my son from my family and from my father's house.'

Then you will be free from my oath. If you go to my family, and they do not give you, then you will be free from my oath.

And I came today to the spring, and I said, 'יהוה, the Elohim of my master Avraham, if You are now making my journey successful, the one on which I am going.'

'Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and it will be, the young woman who comes out to draw, and I say to her, 'Please let me drink a little water from your jar.''

'And she says to me, 'You drink, and I will also draw water for your camels.' She is the woman whom יהוה has designated for my master's son.'

I had not finished speaking in my heart, and behold, Rivqah was coming out, and her jar was on her shoulder. And she went down to the spring and drew water. And I said to her, 'Please let me drink.'

And she hurried and lowered her jar from herself, and said, 'Drink, and I will also water your camels.' And I drank, and she also watered the camels.

And I asked her and said, 'Whose daughter are you?' And she said, 'The daughter of Betu'el, son of Naḥor, whom Milcah bore to him.' And I placed the nose-ring on her nose and the bracelets on her hands.

And I bowed and prostrated myself to יהוה, and I blessed יהוה, the Elohim of my master Avraham, who has guided me in the true way to take my master's brother's daughter for his son.

'And now, if you are doing kindness and truth to my master, tell me. And if not, tell me, and I will turn to the right or to the left.'

And Lavan and Betu'el answered and said, 'From יהוה the matter has come out. We are not able to speak to you bad or good.'

'Behold, Rivqah is before you. Take and go, and let her be a wife for your master's son, as יהוה has spoken.'

And it was, when the servant of Avraham heard their words, he prostrated himself to the earth to יהוה.

And the servant brought out silver vessels and gold vessels and clothing, and he gave them to Rivqah. And he gave valuable gifts to her brother and to her mother.

And they ate and drank, he and the men who were with him, and they lodged. And they arose in the morning, and he said, 'Send me to my master.'

And her brother and her mother said, 'Let the young woman stay with us a few days, or ten. Afterward, she may go.'

And he said to them, 'Do not delay me, for יהוה has made my journey successful. Send me away, and I will go to my master.'

And they said, 'Let us call the young woman and ask her.'

And they called Rivqah and said to her, 'Will you go with this man?' And she said, 'I will go.'

And they sent away Rivqah their sister and her nursemaid, and the servant of Avraham and his men.

And they blessed Rivqah and said to her, 'Our sister, may you become thousands of myriads, and may your offspring possess the gate of his enemies.'

And Rivqah and her young women arose, and they rode on the camels and went after the man. And the servant took Rivqah and went.

And Yitsḥaq was coming from the direction of Beer-lahai-roi, and he was dwelling in the land of the Negev.

And Yitsḥaq went out to meditate in the field toward evening. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, camels were coming.

And Rivqah lifted up her eyes and saw Yitsḥaq, and she fell from the camel.

And she said to the servant, 'Who is this man walking in the field toward us?' And the servant said, 'He is my master.' And she took the veil and covered herself.

And the servant told Yitsḥaq all the things that he had done.

And Yitsḥaq brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother, and he took Rivqah, and she became a wife to him, and he loved her. And Yitsḥaq was comforted after his mother.
