And the days of Sarah's years, one hundred years and twenty years and seven years, the years of Sarah's life.

And Sarah died in Qiryat Arba, she is Ḥevron, in the land of Kena'an. And Avraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her.

And Avraham rose from before his dead and spoke to the sons of Ḥet, saying:

A sojourner and settler I am with you; give me a holding of a grave with you, and I will bury my dead from my presence.

And the sons of Ḥet answered Avraham, saying to him:

Hear us, my Adonai; a prince of Elohim you are among us. In the choicest of our graves bury your dead. None of us will withhold his grave from you, from burying your dead.

And Avraham rose and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the sons of Ḥet.

And he spoke with them, saying: 'If it is in your soul to bury my dead from my presence, hear me, and plead for me with Efron son of Tsoḥar.

And he will give me the cave of the Double-Place which is his, which is at the end of his field. For full silver he will give it to me among you for a holding of a grave.

And Efron was dwelling among the sons of Ḥet. And Efron the Ḥittite answered Avraham in the ears of the sons of Ḥet, to all who came to the gate of his city, saying:

'No, my Adonai, hear me. The field I have given to you, and the cave which is in it, to you I have given it. In the eyes of the sons of my people I have given it to you. Bury your dead.'

And Avraham bowed himself before the people of the land.

And he spoke to Efron in the ears of the people of the land, saying: 'But if you, please hear me. I have given silver for the field; take it from me, and I will bury my dead there.'

And Efron answered Avraham, saying to him:

'My Adonai, hear me. A land of four hundred shekels of silver, between me and you, what is it? And bury your dead.'

And Avraham heard Efron. And Avraham weighed to Efron the silver which he spoke of in the ears of the sons of Ḥet, four hundred shekels of silver, current money for the merchant.

And the field of Efron which was in the Double-Place, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, which was within all its borders all around,

became to Avraham for a purchase, in the eyes of the sons of Ḥet, to all who came to the gate of his city.

And after this, Avraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of the Double-Place, before Mamre; she is Ḥevron in the land of Kena'an.

And the field and the cave which was in it became to Avraham for a holding of a grave, from the sons of Ḥet.
