And יהוה said to Avram, 'Go for yourself from your land, and from your birthplace, and from the house of your father, to the land which I will show you.'

'And I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.'

'And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the ground will be blessed.'

'And Avram went, as יהוה spoke to him, and Lot went with him. And Avram was seventy-seven years old when he went out from Ḥaran.'

'And Avram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions which they had acquired, and the souls which they had made in Ḥaran, and they went out to go to the land of Kena'an, and they came to the land of Kena'an.'

'And Avram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Kena'ani was then in the land.'

'And יהוה appeared to Avram and said, 'To your seed I will give this land.' And he built there an altar to יהוה who appeared to him.'

'And he moved from there to the mountain, east of Beit-El, and he pitched his tent, Beit-El from the west, and Ai from the east. And he built there an altar to יהוה, and he called in the name of יהוה.'

'And Avram journeyed, going and journeying to the Negev.'

'And there was a famine in the land, and Avram went down to Mitsrayim to sojourn there, because the famine was severe in the land.'

'And it happened, as he was about to enter Mitsrayim, he said to Sarai his wife, 'Look now, I know that you are a woman beautiful in appearance.'

'And it will happen, when the Mitsrim see you, they will say, 'This is his wife,' and they will kill me, and you they will keep alive.'

'Say, please, 'You are my sister,' so that it may go well for me because of you, and my life will live because of you.'

'And it happened, when Avram came into Mitsrayim, the Mitsrim saw the woman, that she was very beautiful.'

'And the officials of Par'oh saw her and praised her to Par'oh, and the woman was taken into the house of Par'oh.'

'And for Avram, it went well because of her, and he had sheep and cattle, and male donkeys, and male servants, and female servants, and female donkeys, and camels.'

'And יהוה struck Par'oh with great plagues, and his house, because of the matter of Sarai, Avram's wife.'

'And Par'oh called Avram and said, 'What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife?'

'Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' and I took her for myself as a wife? And now, behold, your wife. Take her and go.'

'And Par'oh commanded men concerning him, and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that belonged to him.'
