And it came to pass after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Serayah son of Azaryah son of Hilqiyah.

Son of Shallum son of Tsadoq son of Aḥituv.

Son of Amaryah son of Azaryah son of Merayot.

Son of Zeraḥyah son of Uzzi son of Buqqi.

Son of Avishu'a son of Pinḥas son of El'azar son of Aharon the chief kohen.

This Ezra went up from Babel, and he was a skilled scribe in the Torah of Mosheh, which יהוה Elohim of Yisra'el had given. And the king granted him according to the hand of יהוה his Elohim upon him, all his requests.

And some of the sons of Yisra'el, and of the kohanim, and the Levi'im, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the netinim, went up to Yerushalayim in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

And he came to Yerushalayim in the fifth month, it was the seventh year of the king.

For on the first of the first month he began the ascent from Babel, and on the first of the fifth month he came to Yerushalayim, according to the good hand of his Elohim upon him.

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Torah of יהוה, and to do it, and to teach in Yisra'el statutes and judgments.

And this is the copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the kohen, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of יהוה and his statutes concerning Yisra'el.

Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the kohen, scribe of the law of the Elohim of heaven, complete and now.

From me is issued a decree that all who are willing in my kingdom, from the people of Yisra'el, and from his kohanim and Levi'im, to go to Yerushalayim with you, may go.

According to the decree from the king and his seven counselors, to send to Yehudah and to Yerushalayim, according to the law of your Elohim which is in your hand.

And to carry the silver and gold that the king and his counselors have voluntarily offered to the Elohim of Yisra'el, whose dwelling is in Yerushalayim.

And all the silver and gold that you find in all the province of Babel, along with the voluntary offerings of the people and the kohanim, voluntarily offered for the house of their Elohim which is in Yerushalayim.

Therefore, with this silver, you shall buy carefully bulls, rams, lambs, and their grain offerings and their drink offerings, and you shall offer them on the altar of the house of your Elohim which is in Yerushalayim.

And whatever is good for you and for your brothers with the rest of the silver and gold, you shall do according to the desire of your Elohim.

And the vessels that are given to you for the service of the house of your Elohim, deliver them before the Elohim of Yerushalayim.

And the rest of the needs of the house of your Elohim, which falls to you to provide, you shall provide from the king's treasury.

And from me, I Artaxerxes the king, issue a decree to all the treasurers who are beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the kohen, scribe of the law of the Elohim of heaven, asks of you, shall be done diligently.

Up to one hundred talents of silver, and one hundred measures of wheat, and one hundred measures of wine, and one hundred measures of oil, and salt without measure.

Everything that is commanded by the Elohim of heaven shall be done diligently for the house of the Elohim of heaven, lest there be wrath upon the kingdom of the king and his sons.

And we inform you that no tax, tribute, or toll shall be imposed upon any of the kohanim, Levi'im, singers, gatekeepers, netinim, or servants of this house of Elohim.

And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your Elohim which is in your hand, appoint judges and magistrates who will judge all the people beyond the river, all who know the laws of your Elohim; and you shall teach those who do not know.

And whoever does not do the law of your Elohim and the law of the king, judgment shall be executed upon him, whether it be death, or rooting out, or confiscation of property, or imprisonment.

Blessed be יהוה, the Elohim of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this into the heart of the king, to beautify the house of יהוה which is in Yerushalayim.

And upon me He inclined favor before the king and his counselors, and all the mighty princes of the king. And I strengthened myself, according to the hand of יהוה my Elohim upon me, and I gathered from Yisra'el heads to go up with me.
