And it happened in the sixth year, in the sixth [month], on the fifth of the month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Yehudah were sitting before me, and the hand of Adonai יהוה fell upon me there.

And I looked, and behold, a form like the appearance of fire, from the appearance of its loins and downward, fire, and from its loins and upward, like the appearance of brightness, like the appearance of glowing metal.

And he sent the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head, and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and between the heavens, and brought me to Yerushalayim in visions of Elohim, to the entrance of the inner gate facing north, where the statue of jealousy, the one provoking jealousy, was located.

And behold, the glory of the Elohim of Yisra'el was there, like the appearance I had seen in the valley.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, lift up your eyes now toward the north.' And I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, north of the gate of the altar, this statue of jealousy was at the entrance.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, do you see what they are doing? Great abominations that the house of Yisra'el is doing here, far from my sanctuary. And you will again see great abominations.'

And he brought me to the entrance of the courtyard, and I looked, and behold, there was a hole in the wall.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, now break through the wall.' And I broke through the wall, and behold, there was an entrance.

And he said to me, 'Go in and see the evil abominations that they are doing here.'

And I went in and looked, and behold, every form of creeping thing and beast, detestable things, and all the idols of the house of Yisra'el were engraved on the wall all around.

And seventy men of the elders of the house of Yisra'el, and Ya'azanyahu son of Shafan, were standing among them, standing before them, and each had his censer in his hand, and the smoke of the incense offering was rising.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Yisra'el are doing in the darkness, each in his chambers of imagery? For they say, 'יהוה does not see us; יהוה has forsaken the land.''

And he said to me, 'You will again see greater abominations that they are doing.'

And he brought me to the entrance of the gate of the house of יהוה which is toward the north, and behold, there were women sitting, weeping for Tammuz.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, have you seen? You will again see greater abominations than these.'

And he brought me into the inner court of the house of יהוה, and behold, at the entrance of the temple of יהוה, between the vestibule and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of יהוה and their faces eastward, and they were bowing eastward to the sun.

And he said to me, 'Son of man, is it a small thing for the house of Yehudah to do the abominations they have done here? For they have filled the land with violence, and they have turned back to provoke me, and behold, they are sending the shoot to my nose.'

And I also will act with fury; my eye will not spare, nor will I pity. And they will cry in my ears with a loud voice, and I will not hear them.
