And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth, on the tenth of the month, men came from the elders of Yisra'el to seek יהוה, and they sat before me.

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, speak to the elders of Yisra'el and say to them, Thus says Adonai יהוה, Are you coming to seek me? As I live, if I will be sought by you, says Adonai יהוה.

Will you judge them? Will you judge, son of man, the abominations of their fathers? Make them known.

And say to them, Thus says Adonai יהוה, In the day I chose Yisra'el, and I lifted my hand to the seed of the house of Ya'aqov, and I made myself known to them in the land of Mitsrayim, and I lifted my hand to them, saying, I am יהוה your Elohim.

In that day I lifted my hand to them, to bring them out from the land of Mitsrayim to a land I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.

And I said to them, Each one, cast away the detestable things of his eyes, and with the idols of Mitsrayim do not become defiled. I am יהוה your Elohim.

But they rebelled against me and refused to listen to me. Each one did not cast away the detestable things of his eyes, and they did not abandon the idols of Mitsrayim. And I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to complete my anger against them in the midst of the land of Mitsrayim.

But I acted for the sake of my name, so as not to be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were, and among whom I made myself known to them, to bring them out from the land of Mitsrayim.

So I brought them out from the land of Mitsrayim and brought them to the wilderness.

And I gave them my statutes and made my judgments known to them, which if a person does, he will live by them.

And also my Sabbaths I gave to them to be a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I am יהוה who makes them holy.

But the house of Yisra'el rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes, and they rejected my judgments, which if a person does, he will live by them, and they greatly profaned my Sabbaths. And I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness to destroy them.

But I acted for the sake of my name, so as not to be profaned in the eyes of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

And also I lifted my hand to them in the wilderness, not to bring them into the land which I had given, flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.

Because they rejected my judgments and did not walk in my statutes, and they profaned my Sabbaths, for their hearts went after their idols.

But my eye spared them from destruction, and I did not make them an end in the wilderness.

And I said to their children in the wilderness, Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, and do not keep their judgments, and do not become defiled with their idols.

I am יהוה your Elohim. Walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them.

And sanctify my Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I am יהוה your Elohim.

But the children rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes, and they did not keep my judgments to do them, which if a person does, he will live by them. They profaned my Sabbaths. And I said I would pour out my wrath upon them, to complete my anger against them in the wilderness.

But I withheld my hand and acted for the sake of my name, so as not to be profaned in the eyes of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

Also, I lifted my hand to them in the wilderness, to scatter them among the nations and to disperse them in the lands.

Because they did not do my judgments, and they rejected my statutes, and they profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes went after the idols of their fathers.

Also, I gave them statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they would not live.

And I defiled them with their offerings, by causing every firstborn to pass through fire, so that I might make them desolate, so that they might know that I am יהוה.

Therefore, speak to the house of Yisra'el, son of man, and say to them, Thus says Adonai יהוה, Again, your fathers have blasphemed me by their trespass against me.

And I brought them to the land concerning which I had lifted my hand to give it to them. And they saw every high hill and every leafy tree, and there they sacrificed their sacrifices, and there they presented their offerings to provoke me, and there they placed their fragrant offerings, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

And I said to them, What is the high place to which you are coming? And its name was called Bamah until this day.

Therefore, say to the house of Yisra'el, Thus says Adonai יהוה, Are you defiled in the way of your fathers, and do you commit adultery after their detestable things?

And by your offerings, by causing your sons to pass through fire, you are defiled with all your idols until this day. And will I be sought by you, house of Yisra'el? As I live, says Adonai יהוה, I will not be sought by you.

And that which comes up into your mind will not happen, that you say, We will be like the nations, like the families of the lands, serving wood and stone.

As I live, says Adonai יהוה, surely with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with poured-out wrath, I will reign over you.

And I will bring you out from the peoples, and I will gather you from the lands where you were scattered, with a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with poured-out wrath.

And I will bring you to the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will judge you face to face.

As I judged your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Mitsrayim, so I will judge you, says Adonai יהוה.

And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

And I will purge from you the rebels and those who trespass against me from the land of their sojournings. I will bring them out, and they will not enter the land of Yisra'el. And you will know that I am יהוה.

And you, house of Yisra'el, thus says Adonai יהוה, Each one, go and serve your idols! But if you will not listen to me, and you will not profane my holy name anymore with your offerings and with your idols.

For on my holy mountain, on the mountain of the height of Yisra'el, says Adonai יהוה, there all the house of Yisra'el, all of it in the land, will serve me. There I will accept them, and there I will seek your offerings, and the first of your contributions, with all your holy things.

With a pleasing aroma I will accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you were scattered. And I will be sanctified in you before the eyes of the nations.

And you will know that I am יהוה, when I bring you to the land of Yisra'el, to the land concerning which I lifted my hand to give it to your fathers.

And there you will remember your ways and all your deeds by which you became defiled. And you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evil deeds which you have done.

And you will know that I am יהוה, when I deal with you for the sake of my name, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt deeds, house of Yisra'el, says Adonai יהוה.
