And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, you sit in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see and do not see, ears to hear and do not hear, for they are a rebellious house.

And you, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile, and pack it by day before their eyes. And you shall move from your place to another place before their eyes. Perhaps they will see, for they are a rebellious house.

And you shall bring out your baggage like baggage for exile by day before their eyes. And you shall go out in the evening before their eyes, like one going out into exile.

Before their eyes, dig for yourself through the wall, and bring it out through it.

Before their eyes, you shall carry it on your shoulder in the dark. You shall cover your face, and you shall not see the ground, for I have made you a sign to the house of Yisra'el.

And I did as I was commanded. My baggage I brought out like baggage for exile by day. And in the evening, I dug for myself through the wall with my hand. In the dark, I carried it on my shoulder before their eyes.

And the word of יהוה came to me in the morning, saying:

Son of man, have the house of Yisra'el not said to you, 'What are you doing?'

Say to them, 'Thus says Adonai יהוה: This burden is for Yerushalayim, and for all the house of Yisra'el who are in its midst.'

'Say, I am your sign. As I have done, so shall it be done to them. They shall go into exile, into captivity.'

'And the prince who is in their midst shall carry it on his shoulder in the dark. He shall dig through the wall to bring it out. He shall cover his face, because he shall not see the land with his eyes.'

'And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be caught in my snare. And I will bring him to the land of the Kasdim, to Babel, and he shall not see it, though he will die there.'

'And all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops, I will scatter to every wind. And I will draw out a sword after them.'

'And they shall know that I am יהוה, when I scatter them among the nations and disperse them in the lands.'

'And I will leave some of them, a number of men, from the sword, from famine, and from pestilence, so that they may tell all their abominations among the nations where they go. And they shall know that I am יהוה.'

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, you shall eat your bread with anxiety, and drink your water with trembling and with worry.

And you shall say to the people of the land, 'Thus says Adonai יהוה to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, to the land of Yisra'el: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink their water in desolation, so that their land may be stripped bare of its fullness, because of the violence of all who dwell in it.'

'And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation. And you shall know that I am יהוה.'

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Yisra'el, saying: 'The days are prolonged, and every vision perishes'?

Therefore, say to them, 'Thus says Adonai יהוה: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no longer use it as a proverb in Yisra'el. But say to them: The days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision.'

'For there shall no longer be any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Yisra'el.'

'For I, יהוה, will speak the word that I speak, and it shall be done. It shall no longer be delayed, for in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it,' declares Adonai יהוה.

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, behold, the house of Yisra'el says: 'The vision that he sees is for many days, and he prophesies for distant times.'

Therefore, say to them, 'Thus says Adonai יהוה: None of my words shall be delayed any longer. The word that I speak shall be performed,' declares Adonai יהוה.
