And Mosheh was shepherding the flock of Yitro, his father-in-law, priest of Midyan. And he drove the flock after the desert and came to the mountain of Elohim, to Ḥorev.

And the messenger of יהוה appeared to him in a flame of fire from within the thornbush. And he looked, and behold, the thornbush was burning in the fire, and the thornbush was not consumed.

And Mosheh said, 'I will turn aside now, and I will see this great sight, why the thornbush is not burning.'

And יהוה saw that he turned aside to see, and Elohim called to him from within the thornbush, and said, 'Mosheh, Mosheh!' And he said, 'Here I am.'

And He said, 'Do not come near here. Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.'

And He said, 'I am the Elohim of your father, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya'aqov.' And Mosheh hid his face, for he was afraid to look at Elohim.

And יהוה said, 'I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Mitsrayim, and I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their pains.'

And I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Mitsrayim, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Kena'ani, and the Ḥitti, and the Emori, and the Perizzi, and the Ḥivi, and the Yevusi.

And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Yisra'el has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Mitsrayim are oppressing them.

And now, come, and I will send you to Par'oh, and you will bring out My people, the sons of Yisra'el, from Mitsrayim.

And Mosheh said to Elohim, 'Who am I, that I should go to Par'oh, and that I should bring out the sons of Yisra'el from Mitsrayim?'

And He said, 'Certainly I will be with you. And this is the sign to you, that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Mitsrayim, you will serve Elohim on this mountain.'

And Mosheh said to Elohim, 'Behold, I am coming to the sons of Yisra'el, and I will say to them, 'The Elohim of your fathers has sent me to you.' And they will say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?'

And Elohim said to Mosheh, 'I Will Be Who I Will Be.' And He said, 'Thus you shall say to the sons of Yisra'el, 'I Will Be has sent me to you.''

And Elohim said further to Mosheh, 'Thus you shall say to the sons of Yisra'el, 'יהוה, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya'aqov, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial from generation to generation.'

'Go and gather the elders of Yisra'el, and say to them, 'יהוה, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, Yitsḥaq, and Ya'aqov, has appeared to me, saying, 'I have surely visited you and what is being done to you in Mitsrayim.''

'And I have said, 'I will bring you up from the affliction of Mitsrayim to the land of the Kena'ani, and the Ḥitti, and the Emori, and the Perizzi, and the Ḥivi, and the Yevusi, to a land flowing with milk and honey.'"

'And they will listen to your voice. And you and the elders of Yisra'el will go to the king of Mitsrayim, and you will say to him, 'יהוה, the Elohim of the Hebrews, has met with us. And now, please let us go a journey of three days into the desert, and let us sacrifice to יהוה our Elohim.'"

'And I know that the king of Mitsrayim will not permit you to go, not even by a strong hand.'

'And I will send out My hand, and I will strike Mitsrayim with all My wonders, which I will do in its midst. And after that, he will send you out.'

'And I will give this people favor in the eyes of the Mitsrayim. And it will be, when you go, you will not go empty-handed.'

'And a woman will ask from her neighbor, and from the resident of her house, vessels of silver and vessels of gold, and clothing. And you will put them on your sons and on your daughters. And you will plunder the Mitsrayim.'
