In the third month from the going out of the sons of Yisra'el from the land of Mitsrayim, on this day, they came to the wilderness of Sinay.

And they journeyed from Refidim and came to the wilderness of Sinay, and they encamped in the wilderness; and Yisra'el encamped there opposite the mountain.

And Mosheh went up to Elohim, and יהוה called to him from the mountain, saying, 'Thus you shall say to the house of Ya'aqov, and you shall tell the sons of Yisra'el.'

'You yourselves have seen what I did to Mitsrayim, and I bore you on eagle wings, and I brought you to Myself.'

'And now, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession from among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine.'

'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the sons of Yisra'el.

And Mosheh came and called the elders of the people, and he set before them all these words which יהוה had commanded him.

And all the people answered together and said, 'All that יהוה has spoken, we will do.' And Mosheh brought back the words of the people to יהוה.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, 'Behold, I am coming to you in a thick cloud, so that the people may hear when I speak with you, and also in you they may believe forever.' And Mosheh told the words of the people to יהוה.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, 'Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and they shall wash their garments.'

'And they shall be ready for the third day, for on the third day יהוה will descend in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinay.'

'And you shall set boundaries for the people all around, saying, 'Be careful for yourselves not to go up the mountain, nor to touch its edge; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death.'

'No hand shall touch him, for he shall surely be stoned or surely be shot; whether animal or man, he shall not live.' When the ram's horn sounds long, they may go up the mountain.

And Mosheh went down from the mountain to the people, and he consecrated the people, and they washed their garments.

And he said to the people, 'Be ready for three days; do not come near a woman.'

And it came to pass on the third day, when morning came, there were thunders and lightnings and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and a very loud sound of a trumpet, and all the people who were in the camp trembled.

And Mosheh brought the people out to meet Elohim from the camp, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

And Mount Sinay was all in smoke, because יהוה descended upon it in fire, and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.

And it came to pass, the sound of the trumpet was going on and becoming very loud; Mosheh spoke, and Elohim answered him with a voice.

And יהוה descended on Mount Sinay, to the top of the mountain, and יהוה called Mosheh to the top of the mountain, and Mosheh went up.

And יהוה said to Mosheh, 'Go down, warn the people, lest they break through to יהוה to look, and a multitude of them fall.'

'And also the priests who come near to יהוה shall consecrate themselves, lest יהוה break out against them.'

And Mosheh said to יהוה, 'The people cannot go up to Mount Sinay, for You Yourself warned us, saying, 'Set boundaries around the mountain and consecrate it.''

And יהוה said to him, 'Go, descend, and you and Aharon shall come up with you, but the priests and the people shall not break through to go up to יהוה, lest He break out against them.'

And Mosheh went down to the people and said to them.
