The entire congregation of the sons of Yisra'el journeyed from the Wilderness of Sin to their journey stages at the word of יהוה, and they camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.

"Behold, I am standing before you there on the rock at Ḥorev. Strike the rock, and water will come out from it so the people can drink." Mosheh did so in the sight of the elders of Yisra'el.

Mosheh's hands grew heavy, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aharon and Ḥur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other side, and his hands remained steady until the sun set.
