For I have set all this upon my heart, and to understand all this, that the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of יהוה; even love and hate, man does not know; all is before them.

All is the same for all; there is one fate for the righteous and for the wicked, for the good and for the clean and for the unclean, for him who sacrifices and for him who does not sacrifice, as the good one, so the sinner; as the one who swears an oath, so the one who fears an oath.

This is evil in all that is done under the sun, because there is one fate for all, and also the heart of the sons of man is full of evil and madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they go to the dead.

For who is joined to all the living has hope, for to a living dog it is better than to a dead lion.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they no longer have a reward, for their memory is forgotten.

Also their love, also their hate, also their envy has already perished, and they no longer have any portion forever in all that is done under the sun.

Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a good heart, for already Elohim has approved your deeds.

At all times let your garments be white, and let oil not be lacking on your head.

See life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting life which He has given you under the sun, all the days of your fleeting life, for this is your portion in life and in your toil which you toil under the sun.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your strength, for there is no work, nor reckoning, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in Sheol, where you are going.

I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those who know, but time and chance happen to them all.

For man also does not know his time; like fish caught in a net of evil, and like birds caught in a snare, so are the sons of man ensnared in a time of evil, when it falls upon them suddenly.

This also I have seen wisdom under the sun, and it is great to me.

There was a small city and few men in it, and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great siege works against it.

And a poor wise man was found in it, and he delivered the city with his wisdom, and no man remembered that poor man.

And I said, Wisdom is better than strength, but the wisdom of the poor is despised, and his words are not heard.

The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the outcry of a ruler among fools.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.
