For if a corpse is found in the ground which יהוה your Elohim is giving you to possess, fallen in the field, it is not known who struck him.

And your elders and your judges will go out and measure to the cities which are around the corpse.

And the city which is nearest to the corpse, and its elders will take a heifer from the herd, which has not been worked, which has not pulled in a yoke.

And the elders of that city will bring down the heifer to a perennial stream, which is not worked and not sown, and they will break the neck of the heifer there in the stream.

And the priests, the sons of Levi, will approach, for יהוה your Elohim has chosen them to serve Him and to bless in the name of יהוה, and by their word will be every dispute and every injury.

And all the elders of that city, who are nearest to the corpse, will wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the stream.

And they will answer and say, 'Our hands did not spill this blood, and our eyes did not see.'

Make atonement for Your people Yisra'el, whom You redeemed, יהוה, and do not put innocent blood in the midst of Your people Yisra'el, and the blood will be atoned for them.

And you will remove the innocent blood from your midst, for you will do what is right in the eyes of יהוה.

For if you go out to war against your enemies and יהוה your Elohim gives them into your hand, and you capture their captives.

And you see among the captives a woman of beautiful form, and you desire her, and you take her for yourself as a wife.

And you will bring her into your house, and she will shave her head and cut her nails.

And she will remove the garment of her captivity from her, and she will dwell in your house and mourn for her father and her mother for a month of days, and afterward you will go in to her and possess her, and she will be your wife.

And it will be, if you do not desire her, then you will send her away to her freedom, and you will not sell her for money, you will not oppress her, because you have humbled her.

For if a man has two wives, one loved and one hated, and they bear him sons, the loved one and the hated one, and the firstborn son is of the hated one.

And it will be, on the day he gives his sons their inheritance, he will not be able to give the firstborn status to the son of the loved one over the son of the hated one, the firstborn.

For he will acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated one, to give him a double portion of all that he possesses, for he is the beginning of his strength; his is the right of the firstborn.

For if a man has a stubborn and rebellious son, who does not obey the voice of his father and the voice of his mother, and they discipline him, and he does not listen to them.

And his father and his mother will seize him and bring him out to the elders of his city and to the gate of his place.

And they will say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he does not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.'

And all the men of his city will stone him with stones and he will die, and you will remove the evil from your midst, and all Yisra'el will hear and fear.

And if a man commits a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree.

His corpse will not remain on the tree overnight, for you will surely bury him on that day, for he who is hung is a curse of Elohim, and you will not defile your land which יהוה your Elohim is giving you as an inheritance.
