You are sons to יהוה your Elohim; you shall not gash yourselves, nor make yourselves bald between your eyes for the dead.

For you are a holy people to יהוה your Elohim, and יהוה has chosen you to be a treasured people for Himself from all the peoples that are on the face of the ground.

You shall not eat any detestable thing.

This is the animal you may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat.

The wild ox, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the mountain goat, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.

And any animal that splits the hoof and has two split hoofs, that chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat.

However, these you shall not eat from those that chew the cud and from those that split the hoof: the camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud but do not split the hoof; they are unclean to you.

And the pig, because it splits the hoof but does not chew the cud; it is unclean to you. You shall not eat its flesh, nor shall you touch its carcass.

These you may eat of all that are in the waters: anything with fins and scales you may eat.

And anything without fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.

You may eat any clean bird.

But these you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard,

the kite, the falcon, and the hawk of its kind,

and every raven of its kind,

and the ostrich, the nightjar, the seagull, and the hawk of its kind,

the owl, the cormorant, the great owl,

the screech owl, the fish hawk, the barn owl,

the stork, the heron of its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

And every winged insect is unclean to you; it shall not be eaten.

You may eat any clean bird.

You shall not eat any carcass; to the sojourner who is within your gates you may give it and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to יהוה your Elohim. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk.

You shall surely tithe all the produce of your seed, which comes out of the field year by year.

And you shall eat before יהוה your Elohim, in the place which He chooses to make His name dwell there, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock, so that you may learn to fear יהוה your Elohim all the days.

But if the journey is too great for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which יהוה your Elohim chooses to set His name there, when יהוה your Elohim blesses you,

then you shall turn it into money, and bind the money in your hand, and go to the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses.

And you may spend the money for whatever your soul desires: for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul craves; and you shall eat there before יהוה your Elohim, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

And the Levite who is within your gates, you shall not forsake him, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.

At the end of every three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year and lay it up within your gates.

And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your gates, shall come and eat and be satisfied, so that יהוה your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
