Hear this word which יהוה speaks against you, children of Yisra'el, against every family which I brought up from the land of Mitsrayim, saying:

Only you I have known from all the families of the ground; therefore I will visit upon you all your iniquities.

Will two walk together unless they have met?

Will a lion roar in the forest when it has no prey? Will a young lion give its voice from its den unless it has captured?

Will a bird fall on a snare on the ground, and there is no trap for it? Will a snare rise from the ground when it has not captured?

If a shofar is blown in a city, will the people not tremble? If there is disaster in a city, and יהוה has not done it?

For Adonai יהוה will do nothing unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.

A lion has roared; who will not fear? Adonai יהוה has spoken; who will not prophesy?

Proclaim on the palaces in Ashdod, and on the palaces in the land of Mitsrayim, and say, 'Gather yourselves on the mountains of Shomron, and see great disturbances within it, and oppressions in its midst.'

And they do not know how to do right, says יהוה; those who hoard violence and destruction in their palaces.

Therefore, thus says Adonai יהוה: 'There is distress, and surrounding the land, and your strength will be brought down, and your palaces will be plundered.'

Thus says יהוה: 'As the shepherd delivers from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so will the children of Yisra'el who dwell in Shomron be delivered, in the corner of a couch and on the damask of a bed.'

Hear and testify against the house of Ya'aqov, says Adonai יהוה, Elohim of hosts.

For on the day I visit the transgressions of Yisra'el upon him, I will also visit the altars of the house of Beith-El, and the horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.

And I will strike the winter house with the summer house, and the houses of ivory will perish, and the many houses will be destroyed, says יהוה.
