For the music leader, a psalm of David.

Hear, O Elohim, my voice in my plea; from the fear of an enemy, guard my life.

Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, from the uproar of those who work iniquity.

Who sharpen their tongue like a sword; they aim their arrow, a bitter word.

To shoot from hiding places, the blameless suddenly; they shoot and do not fear.

They strengthen themselves in a wicked matter; they speak of hiding snares; they say, 'Who will see them?'

They search for iniquities; we are finished with searching; the inward thought of a person, and the heart is deep.

But Elohim will shoot them with an arrow; suddenly their wounds will be.

And they will make them stumble, their tongue against them; all who see them will shake their heads.

And all mankind will fear; they will declare the work of Elohim, and they will understand His deeds.

The righteous will rejoice in יהוה and take refuge in Him; and all the upright in heart will boast.
