Contend, יהוה, against those who contend against me; fight against those who fight against me.

Grasp shield and buckler, and rise up in my help.

Draw out spear and block the way for my pursuers; say to my soul, 'Your deliverance is I.'

Let those who seek my soul be ashamed and disgraced; let those who plot my harm turn back and be confounded.

Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of יהוה drive them.

Let their way be darkness and slipperiness, and let the angel of יהוה pursue them.

For without cause they hid for me a trap, their net; without cause they dug for my soul.

Let ruin come upon him he does not know, and let his net that he hid capture him; into ruin let him fall.

And my soul will rejoice in יהוה; it will exult in His deliverance.

All my bones will say, 'יהוה, who is like You, delivering the afflicted from one stronger than him, and the afflicted and the needy from their plunderer?'

False witnesses rise up; they ask me about things I did not know.

They repay me evil for good, bereavement for my soul.

But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned to my heart.

I walked as if for a friend, for a brother; I stooped down, mourning as for a mother.

But when I stumbled, they rejoiced and gathered; the attackers gathered against me, and I did not know; they tore and did not cease.

Among the insincere mockers at feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.

Adonai, how long will You watch? Bring back my soul from their destruction, my life from the lions.

I will thank You in a great assembly; in a mighty people I will praise You.

Let my enemies not rejoice over me falsely; let those who hate me without cause not wink their eye.

For they do not speak peace, but they plot deceitful words against the quiet of the land.

And they opened their mouths wide against me; they said, 'Aha! Aha! Our eyes have seen it!'

You have seen it, יהוה; do not be silent, Adonai; do not be far from me.

Rouse Yourself and awaken for my judgment, my Elohim and my Adonai, for my contention.

Judge me according to Your righteousness, יהוה my Elohim, and let them not rejoice over me.

Let them not say in their heart, 'Aha! Our desire! Let them not say, 'We have swallowed him!'

Let those who rejoice at my harm be ashamed and confounded together; let those who magnify themselves against me be clothed with shame and disgrace.

Let those who desire my righteousness shout and rejoice, and let them always say, 'Great is יהוה, who desires the peace of His servant.'

And my tongue will speak Your righteousness, Your praise all the day.
