My son, to my wisdom pay attention, to my understanding incline your ear.

To guard insights, and knowledge of your lips will keep you.

For from a stranger, lips drip honey, and smooth as oil is her throat.

But her end is bitter like wormwood, sharp like a double-edged sword.

Her feet go down to death, to Sheol her steps hold fast.

The path of life, perhaps she does not consider; her ways wander, you do not know.

And now, sons, listen to me, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

Keep your way far from her, and do not come near the entrance of her house.

Lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one.

Lest strangers be filled with your strength, and your labors in a foreigner's house.

And you will groan in your end, when your flesh and your body are consumed.

And you will say, 'How I hated instruction, and my heart despised correction.'

And I did not listen to the voice of my teachers, and to my instructors I did not incline my ear.

I was almost in all evil, in the midst of the assembly and congregation.

Drink water from your cistern, and flowing water from your well.

May your springs flow outward, streams of water in the streets.

May they be for you alone, and not for strangers with you.

May your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth.

A loving doe and a graceful mountain goat, may her breasts satisfy you always; by her love may you be captivated always.

And why, my son, would you be captivated by a stranger, and embrace the chest of a foreign woman?

For the ways of a man are before the eyes of יהוה, and He considers all his paths.

His own iniquities will capture the wicked one, and by the cords of his sin he will be held.

He will die without instruction, and in the abundance of his foolishness he will wander.
