And all the people gathered themselves together as one man to the open square which is before the Water Gate, and they said to Ezra the scribe, to bring the book of the Torah of Mosheh, which יהוה commanded to Yisra'el.

And Ezra the priest brought the Torah before the assembly, from man to woman and all who understood to listen, on the first day of the seventh month.

And he read from it in the open square before the Water Gate, from the morning until the middle of the day, in front of the men and the women and those who understood, and the ears of all the people were toward the book of the Torah.

And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform which they had made for the matter, and beside him stood Mattithyah, and Shama, and 'Anayah, and Uriyah, and Khilqiyah, and Ma'aseyah on his right, and on his left Pedayah, and Mishael, and Malkiyah, and Hashum, and Hashbadanah, Zekharyah, Meshullam.

And Ezra opened the book before the eyes of all the people, for he was above all the people, and when he opened it, all the people stood.

And Ezra blessed יהוה the great Elohim, and all the people answered, 'Amen, Amen,' with raising their hands, and they bowed and prostrated themselves to יהוה, faces to the ground.

And Yeshua, and Bani, and Sherevyah, Yamin, 'Aqqov, Shavtai, Hodi'yah, Ma'aseyah, Qelita, 'Azaryah, Yozavad, Hanan, Pelayah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the Torah, and the people stood in their places.

And they read from the book, from the Torah of the Elohim, distinctly, and with understanding, and they understood the reading.

And Nechemyah, who is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites who caused the people to understand, said to all the people, 'This day is holy to Adonaykhem. Do not grieve and do not weep,' for all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the Torah.

And he said to them, 'Go, eat rich foods and drink sweet drinks, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared, for this day is holy to Adoneinu, and do not be sad, for the joy of יהוה is your strength.'

And the Levites quieted all the people, saying, 'Be silent, for this day is holy, and do not be sad.'

And all the people went to eat and to drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, for they understood the words which had been made known to them.

And on the second day, the heads of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, gathered to Ezra the scribe, to gain understanding in the words of the Torah.

And they found written in the Torah, which יהוה commanded by the hand of Mosheh, that the sons of Yisra'el should dwell in booths during the feast in the seventh month.

And that they should make it known and spread a message in all their cities and in Yerushalayim, saying, 'Go to the mountain and bring olive branches and branches of wild olive trees, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.'

And the people went out and brought, and made for themselves booths, each man on his roof, and in their courtyards, and in the courtyards of the house of Elohim, and in the open square of the Water Gate, and in the open square of the Ephrayim Gate.

And the entire assembly of those who had returned from captivity made booths, and they lived in booths, for the sons of Yisra'el had not done so from the days of Yeshua son of Nun until this day, and there was very great rejoicing.

And he read from the book of the Torah of Elohim day by day, from the first day until the last day, and they celebrated the feast for seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.
