And all the sons of Yisra'el went out, and the congregation gathered as one man from Dan even to Be'er Sheva, and the land of Gil'ad, to יהוה at the place of assembly.

And the heads of all the people, all the tribes of Yisra'el, stood in the assembly of the people of Elohim, four hundred thousand footmen drawing swords.

And the sons of Binyamin heard, for the sons of Yisra'el had gone up to the place of assembly. And the sons of Yisra'el said, Speak! How did this evil happen?

And the man, the Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, answered and said, To Giv'ah, which belongs to Binyamin, I and my concubine came to lodge.

And the men of Giv'ah rose up against me, and they surrounded the house against me by night. They intended to kill me, and they afflicted my concubine, and she died.

And I took hold of my concubine, and I cut her in pieces, and I sent her throughout all the territory of the inheritance of Yisra'el, because they committed an outrageous act and a scandal in Yisra'el.

Look, all of you are sons of Yisra'el. Give your word and counsel here!

And all the people rose up as one man, saying, None of us will go to his tent, and none of us will turn to his house.

And now, this is the thing which we will do to Giv'ah; we will go up against it by lot.

And we will take ten men from a hundred from all the tribes of Yisra'el, and a hundred from a thousand, and a thousand from ten thousand, to bring provisions for the people, to do to Giv'ah of Binyamin according to all the scandal which it committed in Yisra'el.

And all the men of Yisra'el gathered themselves to the city as one man, united.

And the tribes of Yisra'el sent men throughout all the tribes of Binyamin, saying, What is this evil that has happened among you?

And now, give up the men, the worthless ones, who are in Giv'ah, and we will put them to death, and we will purge evil from Yisra'el. But the sons of Binyamin refused to listen to the voice of their brothers, the sons of Yisra'el.

And the sons of Binyamin gathered from the cities to Giv'ah, to go out to war against the sons of Yisra'el.

And the sons of Binyamin were mustered on that day from the cities, twenty-six thousand men drawing swords, apart from the inhabitants of Giv'ah, seven hundred chosen men were mustered.

From all this people, seven hundred chosen men were chosen, left-handed; every one of these slung stones at a hair's breadth and did not miss.

And the men of Yisra'el, apart from Binyamin, were mustered, four hundred thousand men drawing swords; all these were men of war.

And they rose up and went to Beit-El and inquired of Elohim. And the sons of Yisra'el said, Who will go up for us first to the battle against the sons of Binyamin? And יהוה said, Yehudah, first.

And the sons of Yisra'el rose in the morning and encamped against Giv'ah.

And the men of Yisra'el went out to battle against Binyamin, and the men of Yisra'el arrayed themselves against them for battle at Giv'ah.

And the sons of Binyamin went out from Giv'ah and struck down from Yisra'el on that day, twenty-two thousand men to the ground.

And the people, the men of Yisra'el, strengthened themselves and prepared for battle again in the place where they had prepared on the first day.

And the sons of Yisra'el went up and wept before יהוה until evening, and inquired of יהוה, saying, Shall I again go forward to battle against the sons of Binyamin, my brother? And יהוה said, Go up against him.

And the sons of Yisra'el approached the sons of Binyamin on the second day.

And Binyamin went out to meet them from Giv'ah on the second day, and they struck down from the sons of Yisra'el again, eighteen thousand men to the ground; all these were men drawing swords.

And all the sons of Yisra'el and all the people went up and came to Beit-El and wept, and sat there before יהוה, and fasted on that day until evening, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before יהוה.

And the sons of Yisra'el inquired of יהוה, and the Ark of the Covenant of Elohim was there in those days.

And Pineḥas, son of El'azar, son of Aharon, stood before it in those days, saying, Shall I again go out to battle against the sons of Binyamin, my brother, or shall I refrain? And יהוה said, Go up, for tomorrow I will give him into your hand.

And Yisra'el set ambushes around Giv'ah.

And the sons of Yisra'el went up against the sons of Binyamin on the third day, and they arrayed themselves against Giv'ah as before.

And the sons of Binyamin went out to meet the people, breaking away from the city, and they began to strike down some of the people to the ground, as before, on the roads; one going up to Beit-El and one to Giv'ah in the field, about thirty men in Yisra'el.

And the sons of Binyamin said, They are being defeated before us, as at first. And the sons of Yisra'el said, Let us flee and draw them away from the city to the roads.

And all the men of Yisra'el rose from their place and arrayed themselves at Ba'al-Tamar, and the ambush of Yisra'el emerged from its place, from the wilderness of Giv'ah.

And ten thousand chosen men from all Yisra'el came from opposite Giv'ah, and the battle was severe, and they did not know that disaster was upon them.

And יהוה struck down Binyamin before Yisra'el, and the sons of Yisra'el struck down from Binyamin on that day, twenty-five thousand one hundred men; all these were men drawing swords.

And the sons of Binyamin saw that they were defeated, and the men of Yisra'el gave way to Binyamin, because they relied on the ambush which they had set against Giv'ah.

And the ambush hurried and rushed upon Giv'ah, and the ambush drew back and struck down all the city with the edge of the sword.

And the plan for the men of Yisra'el was with the ambush, a large number to raise up a column of smoke from the city.

And the men of Yisra'el turned in the battle, and Binyamin began to strike down casualties among the men of Yisra'el, about thirty men, for they said, Surely he is being defeated before us, as in the first battle.

And the signal began to rise from the city, a pillar of smoke, and Binyamin looked back, and behold, the whole city was ascending to the heavens.

And the men of Yisra'el turned, and the men of Binyamin were astonished, for they saw that disaster had befallen them.

And they turned before the men of Yisra'el toward the way of the wilderness, but the battle overtook them, and those from the cities were destroying them in their midst.

They surrounded Binyamin, pursued them, and drove them from their resting place, facing Giv'ah from the east of the sun.

And eighteen thousand men of Binyamin fell, all these were valiant men.

And they turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and they pursued them on the roads, five thousand men, and they overtook them until Gid'om and struck down two thousand men from them.

And all who fell from Binyamin on that day were twenty-five thousand one hundred men, drawing swords; all these were valiant men.

And they turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, six hundred men, and they remained in the rock Rimmon for four months.

And the men of Yisra'el returned to the sons of Binyamin and struck them with the edge of the sword, from city to city, from beast to all that was found. Also, all the cities that were found, they set them on fire.
