And Yehoshua gathered all the tribes of Yisra'el to Shokhem, and he called the elders of Yisra'el, and their heads, and their judges, and their officers, and they stood before the Elohim.

And Yehoshua said to all the people, 'Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el: Your fathers lived from of old beyond the river, Terah the father of Avraham, and the father of Naḥor, and they served other elohim.'

'And I took your father Avraham from beyond the river, and I led him throughout all the land of Kena'an, and I multiplied his offspring, and I gave him Yitsḥaq.'

'And I gave to Yitsḥaq Ya'aqov and 'Esav, and I gave to 'Esav the mountain of Se'ir to possess it, but Ya'aqov and his sons went down to Mitsrayim.'

'And I sent Mosheh and Aharon, and I struck Mitsrayim as I struck it, and afterward I brought you out.'

'And I brought your fathers out of Mitsrayim, and you came to the sea, and the Mitsrayim pursued your fathers with chariots and with horsemen to the Sea of Reeds.'

'And they cried out to יהוה, and he put darkness between you and the Mitsrayim, and he brought the sea upon them and covered them, and your eyes saw what I did in Mitsrayim, and you lived in the wilderness many days.'

'And I brought you to the land of the Emori who lived beyond the Yarden, and they fought with you, and I gave them into your hand, and you possessed their land, and I destroyed them from before you.'

'And Balak the son of Tsippor, king of Mo'av, rose up and fought against Yisra'el, and he sent and called for Bil'am the son of Be'or to curse you.'

'But I refused to listen to Bil'am, and he blessed you, and I delivered you from his hand.'

'And you crossed the Yarden and came to Yerikho, and the men of Yerikho, the Emori, and the Perizzi, and the Kena'ani, and the Ḥitti, and the Girgashi, the Ḥivi, and the Yevusi fought against you, and I gave them into your hand.'

'And I sent the hornet before you, and it drove them out from before you, the two kings of the Emori; not by your sword, and not by your bow.'

'And I gave you a land which you had not labored in, and cities which you had not built, and you lived in them; vineyards and olive trees which you had not planted, you eat.'

'And now, fear יהוה and serve him in sincerity and in truth, and remove the elohim which your fathers served beyond the river and in Mitsrayim, and serve יהוה.'

'And if it is evil in your eyes to serve יהוה, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the elohim whom your fathers served beyond the river, or the elohim of the Emori in whose land you live. But as for me and my house, we will serve יהוה.'

'And the people answered and said, 'Far be it from us to abandon יהוה to serve other elohim!'

'For יהוה our Elohim, he is the one who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Mitsrayim, from the house of slaves, and who did before our eyes these great signs, and kept us in all the way we walked, and among all the peoples through whom we passed.'

'And יהוה drove out from before us all the peoples, and the Emori who lived in the land. We also will serve יהוה, for he is our Elohim.'

'And Yehoshua said to the people, 'You cannot serve יהוה, for he is a holy Elohim; he is a jealous Elohim; he will not bear your transgressions and your sins.'

'If you abandon יהוה and serve foreign elohim, then he will turn and do evil to you and consume you, after he has done good to you.'

'And the people said to Yehoshua, 'No, but יהוה we will serve!''

'And Yehoshua said to the people, 'You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen יהוה for yourselves to serve him.' And they said, 'Witnesses!''

'And now, remove the foreign elohim which are among you, and incline your hearts to יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el.'

'And the people said to Yehoshua, 'יהוה our Elohim we will serve, and his voice we will obey!''

'And Yehoshua made a covenant with the people on that day, and he set for them a statute and an ordinance in Shokhem.'

'And Yehoshua wrote these words in the book of the Torah of Elohim, and he took a great stone and set it up there under the oak which was in the sanctuary of יהוה.'

'And Yehoshua said to all the people, 'Behold, this stone shall be a witness for us, for it has heard all the words of יהוה which he spoke to us, and it shall be for you as a witness, lest you deny your Elohim.''

'And Yehoshua sent the people away, each to his inheritance.'

'And it happened after these words that Yehoshua the son of Nun, the servant of יהוה, died at the age of one hundred and ten years.'

'And they buried him within the boundary of his inheritance in Timnath-Serah, which is in the hill country of Efrayim, north of Mount Ga'ash.'

'And Yisra'el served יהוה all the days of Yehoshua, and all the days of the elders who lived long after Yehoshua, and who knew all the deeds of יהוה which he did for Yisra'el.'

'And the bones of Yosef, which the sons of Yisra'el brought up from Mitsrayim, they buried in Shokhem, in the plot of ground which Ya'aqov bought from the sons of Ḥamor, the father of Shokhem, for one hundred pieces of silver, and it became the inheritance of the sons of Yosef.'

'And Eleazar the son of Aharon died, and they buried him in the hill of Pinḥas his son, which was given to him in the hill country of Efrayim.'
