Thus says יהוה: Behold, I am stirring up against Bavel and against the inhabitants of Leiv Qomay a destroying spirit.

And I will send to Bavel strangers, and they will winnow her, and they will empty her land, for they will be against her from all sides on the day of disaster.

Let the archer not draw his bow, nor let him lift himself up in his armor; and do not have compassion on her young men; annihilate all her army.

And the slain will fall in the land of Kasdim, and those pierced through in her streets.

For Yisra'el and Yehudah are not widowed from their Elohim, from יהוה of hosts; for their land is full of guilt, from the Holy One of Yisra'el.

Flee from the midst of Bavel, and let each man save his life; do not be silenced because of her guilt, for it is a time of vengeance for יהוה; He is repaying her.

Bavel was a golden cup in the hand of יהוה, making all the earth drunk; the nations drank of her wine, therefore the nations are mad.

Suddenly Bavel has fallen and is shattered; wail over her! Take balm for her pain, perhaps she will be healed.

We tried to heal Bavel, but she was not healed; abandon her, and let each go to his own land, for her judgment has reached the heavens and is lifted up to the skies.

יהוה has brought forth our righteousness; come and let us tell in Tsiyon the deeds of יהוה our Elohim.

Sharpen the arrows, fill the quivers! יהוה has stirred up the spirit of the kings of Madai, for His plan against Bavel is to destroy her, for it is the vengeance of יהוה, the vengeance of His temple.

Raise a banner against the walls of Bavel! Strengthen the guard, establish the watchmen, prepare the ambushes! For יהוה has also planned and also done what He spoke against the inhabitants of Bavel.

You who dwell by abundant waters, rich in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your greed.

יהוה of hosts has sworn by Himself: Surely I will fill you with men like locusts, and they will shout against you, 'Hooray!'

He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom, and by His understanding stretched out the heavens.

At the sound of His giving, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and He causes vapors to rise from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain and brings forth the wind from His storehouses.

Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idol, for his molten image is a lie, and there is no spirit in them.

They are worthless, the work of delusion; in the time of their punishment they will perish.

The portion of Ya'aqov is not like these, for He is the former of all things, and the tribe of His inheritance is יהוה of hosts, His name.

You are my war hammer and weapons of war; with you I will shatter nations, and with you I will destroy kingdoms.

And with you I will shatter the horse and its rider, and with you I will shatter the chariot and its driver.

And with you I will shatter man and woman, and with you I will shatter the old man and the youth, and with you I will shatter the young man and the virgin.

And with you I will shatter the shepherd and his flock, and with you I will shatter the farmer and his team, and with you I will shatter governors and rulers.

And I will repay Bavel and all the inhabitants of Kasdim all their evil which they did in Tsiyon before your eyes, declares יהוה.

Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, declares יהוה, the one who destroys all the earth; and I will stretch out My hand against you and roll you down from the rocks and make you a burnt mountain.

And they will not take from you a stone for a corner or a stone for foundations, for you will be ruins forever, declares יהוה.

Raise a banner in the land! Blow a trumpet among the nations! Consecrate nations against her! Summon against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz! Appoint a commander against her! Bring up horses like bristling locusts!

Consecrate nations against her, the kings of Madai, their governors, and all their rulers, and all the land of their dominion.

And the earth trembled and convulsed, for the purposes of יהוה against Bavel have arisen, to make the land of Bavel a desolation without an inhabitant.

The warriors of Bavel have ceased fighting; they remain in their strongholds; their strength has failed; they have become women; her dwellings have been set on fire; her bars have been broken.

Runner after runner runs, and messenger after messenger, to tell the king of Bavel that his city is captured from every side.

And the crossing points have been seized, and the marshes have been burned with fire, and the soldiers are terrified.

For thus says יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra'el: The daughter of Bavel is like a threshing floor at the time it is trodden; yet a little while, and the time of harvest will come for her.

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Bavel, has devoured me, has crushed me, has set me aside like an empty vessel; he has swallowed me like a monster, he has filled his belly with my delicacies; he has cast me out.

'My violence and my flesh be upon Bavel,' will say the inhabitant of Tsiyon, and 'My blood be upon the inhabitants of Kasdim,' will say Yerushalayim.

Therefore, thus says יהוה: Behold, I will plead your case and take vengeance for you, and I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.

And Bavel will become heaps, a dwelling place for jackals, a desolation and a hissing, without an inhabitant.

Together like lions they will roar; they will growl like the whelps of lions.

In their heat I will prepare their feasts, and I will make them drunk, that they may rejoice and sleep an eternal sleep and not awaken, declares יהוה.

I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he-goats.

How has Sheshakh been captured, and the praise of all the earth seized? How has Bavel become a desolation among the nations?

The sea has come up over Bavel; with the multitude of its waves, she is covered.

Her cities have become a desolation, a dry land and a wasteland, a land where no man lives, and no son of man passes through it.

And I will punish Bel in Bavel, and I will bring out what he swallowed from his mouth, and the nations will no longer stream to him; even the wall of Bavel has fallen.

Go out from her midst, my people, and let each man save his life from the fierce anger of יהוה.

And lest your heart faint, and you fear at the report heard in the land, for a report will come in one year, and after that, a report in the following year, and violence in the land, and ruler against ruler.

Therefore, behold, days are coming, and I will punish the idols of Bavel, and all her land will be put to shame, and all her slain will fall within her.

And Bavel will cry out, heaven and earth, and all that is in them, for from the north the destroyers will come to her, declares יהוה.

Even Bavel will fall, the slain of Yisra'el, and for Bavel, the slain of all the earth have fallen.

You who have escaped the sword, go! Do not stand still! Remember יהוה from afar, and let Yerushalayim come to your mind.

We are ashamed, for we have heard reproach; shame has covered our faces, for strangers have entered the sanctuaries of the house of יהוה.

Therefore, behold, days are coming, declares יהוה, and I will punish her idols, and throughout her land a slain man will groan.

Though Bavel ascends to heaven, and though she makes her strong fortress inaccessible, destroyers will come to her from Me, declares יהוה.

A sound of outcry from Bavel, and great destruction from the land of Kasdim!

For יהוה is destroying Bavel and will cause her great voice to perish; and their waves will roar like many waters; the sound of their voice is given.

For a destroyer has come upon her, upon Bavel, and her warriors have been captured; their bows have been shattered, for יהוה is a Elohim of recompense; He will surely repay.

And I will make her princes and her wise men, her governors and her rulers and her warriors drunk, and they will sleep an eternal sleep and not awaken, declares the King, יהוה of hosts is His name.

Thus says יהוה of hosts: The broad walls of Bavel will be utterly broken, and her high gates will be burned with fire, and peoples will labor for nothing, and nations for fire, and they will be weary.

The word that Yirmeyahu the prophet commanded Serayah, son of Neriah, son of Ma'aseyah, when he went with Tzidqiyahu, king of Yehudah, to Bavel in the fourth year of his reign. And Serayah was a chief official.

And Yirmeyahu wrote all the disaster that would come upon Bavel in one scroll, all these words that were written against Bavel.

And Yirmeyahu said to Serayah, 'When you arrive in Bavel, you shall see and read all these words aloud.

And you shall say, 'יהוה, You Yourself spoke concerning this place, to cut it off, so that there would be no inhabitant in it, from man to beast, for it will be desolate forever.

And when you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Perat River.

And you shall say, 'Thus Bavel will sink and will not rise because of the disaster that I am bringing upon her.' Thus far are the words of Yirmeyahu.
