I will sing now to my beloved, a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard. A vineyard belonged to my beloved on a horn of fatness.

And he fenced it in, and he cleared it, and he planted it with the choicest vine, and he built a tower in its midst, and he also hewed out a winepress in it. And he hoped to make grapes, and it made wild grapes.

And now, inhabitant of Yerushalayim and man of Yehudah, judge now between me and my vineyard.

What more is there to do for my vineyard, and I have not done it? Why did I hope to make grapes, and it made wild grapes?

And now, I will make known to you what I am doing to my vineyard: I will remove its hedge, and it will be for burning. I will break down its wall, and it will be for trampling.

And I will make it a desolation; it will not be pruned nor will it be tilled, and thorns and thistles will come up. And I will command the clouds not to rain on it.

For the vineyard of יהוה of hosts is the house of Yisra'el, and the men of Yehudah are his pleasant planting. And he hoped for justice, and behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, and behold, a cry.

Woe to those who join house to house, field to field, until there is no space, and you are left alone in the midst of the land!

In my ears, יהוה of hosts, surely many great and beautiful houses will be desolate, without an inhabitant.

For ten yoke of vineyard will produce one bath, and a homer of seed will produce an ephah.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning, pursuing strong drink, who follow after wine until the evening, it inflames them.

And the lyre and the harp, the tambourine and the flute, and wine are in their feasts, and they do not look at the work of יהוה, nor do they see the deeds of his hands.

Therefore, my people have gone into exile without knowledge, and their honorable men are hungry, and their multitude is thirsty with thirst.

Therefore, Sheol has enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure, and their glory, and their multitude, and their noise, and he who rejoices in it will descend into it.

And man will be humbled, and the man will be brought low, and the eyes of the proud will be brought low.

But יהוה of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness.

And lambs will graze according to their manner, and the fat of the desolate will eat.

Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as with the harness of a cart!

Those who say, 'Let him make haste, let him speed his work, that we may see it!' And let the counsel of the Holy One of Yisra'el come and let us know!

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mix strong drink!

Those who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Therefore, as the tongue of fire consumes stubble, and as dry grass collapses in the flame, their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom will go up like dust; because they have rejected the law of יהוה of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Yisra'el.

Therefore, the anger of יהוה burned against his people, and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them. And the mountains trembled, and their carcasses were like refuse in the midst of the streets. In all this, his anger has not turned back, and his hand is still stretched out.

And he will lift up a banner to the nations from afar, and he will whistle to them from the end of the earth. And behold, swiftly and quickly they will come.

None is weary, and none stumbles among them. They do not slumber nor sleep, and the belt of their loins is not loosened, nor is the strap of their sandals broken.

Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows are bent. The hoofs of their horses are counted as flint, and their wheels as the whirlwind.

They roar like a lion; they will roar like young lions. And they will growl and seize prey, and carry it away, and there will be no deliverer.

And on that day, they will roar against them like the roaring of the sea. And one will look to the land, and behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and light is darkened in its clouds.
