Hear this, house of Ya'aqov, who are called by the name of Yisra'el, and have come out from the waters of Yehudah, those who swear by the name of יהוה and mention the Elohim of Yisra'el, not in truth and not in righteousness.

For from the holy city they are called, and on the Elohim of Yisra'el they rely. יהוה Tzeva'ot is His name.

The former things from long ago I declared, and from my mouth they came out, and I made them heard. Suddenly I acted, and they came to be.

Because I knew you were stubborn, and your neck was a sinew of iron, and your forehead was bronze.

And I declared to you from long ago, before you came, I made you hear, lest you say, 'My idol made them, and my graven image and my molten image commanded them.'

You have heard; see all of it. And you, will you not declare? I have made you hear new things from now, hidden things, and you did not know them.

Now they are created, and not from long ago, and before today, and you had not heard them, lest you say, 'Behold, I knew them.'

You have not heard, you have not known, and from long ago your ear was not opened. For I knew you would surely deal treacherously, and you were called a rebel from the womb.

For the sake of my name I will delay my anger, and for my praise I will restrain myself for you, so as not to cut you off.

Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.

For my own sake, for my own sake I will do it, for how can it be profaned? And my glory I will not give to another.

Hear me, Ya'aqov, and Yisra'el, whom I called. I am He; I am the first, and I am the last.

Indeed, my hand founded the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens. I call to them, and they stand together.

Gather yourselves, all of you, and hear. Who among them has declared these things? יהוה has loved him; He will do His pleasure on Bavel, and His arm will be on the Kasdim.

I, I myself, have spoken; indeed, I have called him. I have brought him, and he will make his way prosperous.

Come near to me, hear this. From the beginning I did not speak in secret; from the time it existed, I was there. And now, Adonai יהוה has sent me, and His Spirit.

Thus says יהוה, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Yisra'el: I am יהוה your Elohim, teaching you to profit, guiding you in the way you should go.

If only you had paid attention to my commandments, then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

And your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; his name would not be cut off or destroyed from before me.

Go out from Bavel, flee from the Kasdim, with a voice of singing declare, make this heard, carry it to the end of the earth. Say, 'יהוה has redeemed His servant Ya'aqov.'

And they did not thirst when He led them through deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.

There is no peace, says יהוה, for the wicked.
