Look, I am stirring up against them the Medes, who do not regard silver as valuable, and who do not desire gold.

Their bows will shatter the young men, and they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not pity children.

And Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the glory of the pride of the Chaldeans, will be like the overthrow of Elohim, like Sodom and Gomorrah.

It will not be inhabited forever, nor will it be lived in from generation to generation; and no Arab will pitch his tent there, and no shepherds will make their flocks lie down there.

But desert creatures will lie down there, and their houses will be filled with owls, and ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats will leap about there.

And jackals will cry out in their deserted palaces, and wild dogs in their luxurious houses; and its time is soon to come, and its days will not be prolonged.
