And all the tribes of Yisra'el came to David in Ḥevron and they said to him, saying, 'Look, we are your bone and your flesh.'

Also yesterday, also the day before, when Sha'ul was king over us, you were the one bringing out and bringing in Yisra'el. And יהוה said to you, 'You will shepherd My people, My Yisra'el, and you will be a ruler over Yisra'el.'

And all the elders of Yisra'el came to the king in Ḥevron, and King David made a covenant with them in Ḥevron before יהוה, and they anointed David king over Yisra'el.

David was thirty years old when he began to reign; forty years he reigned.

In Ḥevron he reigned over Yehudah seven years and six months, and in Yerushalayim he reigned thirty-three years over all Yisra'el and Yehudah.

And the king and his men went to Yerushalayim against the Yevusites, the inhabitants of the land, and they said to David, saying, 'You shall not come here, except you remove the blind and the lame,' saying, 'David shall not come here.'

And David captured the stronghold of Tsiyon; it is the City of David.

And David said on that day, 'Everyone who strikes the Yevusites, and reaches the water shaft, and the lame and the blind, those hated by David's soul.' For this reason they say, 'The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.'

And David lived in the stronghold, and they called it the City of David, and David built around from the Millo and inward.

And David went on and became great, and יהוה Elohei Tzeva'ot was with him.

And Ḥiram, king of Tzor, sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters of wood, and stone masons of wall, and they built a house for David.

And David knew that יהוה had established him king over Yisra'el, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Yisra'el.

And David took more concubines and wives from Yerushalayim after he came from Ḥevron, and more sons and daughters were born to David.

And these are the names of those born to him in Yerushalayim: Shamu'a, and Shovav, and Natan, and Shlomoh,

and Yivḥar, and Elishua, and Nefeg, and Yafi'a,

and Elishama, and Elyada, and Eliphelet.

And the Pelishtim heard that they had anointed David king over Yisra'el, and all the Pelishtim went up to seek David, and David heard, and went down to the stronghold.

And the Pelishtim came and spread out in the Valley of Refa'im.

And David inquired of יהוה, saying, 'Shall I go up against the Pelishtim? Will you give them into my hand?' And יהוה said to David, 'Go up, for I will surely give the Pelishtim into your hand.'

And David came to Ba'al-Peratzim, and David struck them there, and he said, 'יהוה has broken through my enemies before me like a breakthrough of waters.' Therefore he called the name of that place Ba'al-Peratzim.

And they left their idols there, and David and his men carried them away.

And the Pelishtim came up again and spread out in the Valley of Refa'im.

And David inquired of יהוה, and He said, 'You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come to them from the direction of the Baca trees.'

And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the Baca trees, then you shall act decisively, for then יהוה will have gone out before you to strike the camp of the Pelishtim.'

And David did so, just as יהוה commanded him, and he struck the Pelishtim from Geva all the way to Gezer.
