And it happened after this, the sons of Mo'av and the sons of 'Ammon, and with them from the 'Ammonites, came against Yehoshafat for war.

And they came and told Yehoshafat, saying, 'A great multitude comes against you from beyond the sea, from Aram, and behold, they are in Ḥatsatson Tamar, which is 'Ein Gedi.'

And Yehoshafat feared, and set his face to seek יהוה, and proclaimed a fast over all of Yehudah.

And Yehudah gathered to ask of יהוה; also from all the cities of Yehudah they came to seek יהוה.

And Yehoshafat stood in the assembly of Yehudah and Yerushalayim, in the house of יהוה, before the new courtyard.

And he said, 'יהוה, Elohim of our fathers, are you not Elohim in the heavens? And you rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in your hand is power and might, and there is no one to stand against you.'

Are you not our Elohim, who dispossessed the inhabitants of this land from before your people Yisra'el, and gave it to the seed of Avraham, your beloved, forever?

And they lived in it, and built for you in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying:

'If trouble comes upon us, sword of judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before you, for your Name is in this house, and we will cry out to you from our distress, and you will hear and save.'

'And now, behold, the sons of 'Ammon and Mo'av and Mount Se'ir, whom you did not let Yisra'el enter when they came from the land of Mitsrayim, because they turned away from them and did not destroy them.'

'And behold, they repay us by coming to drive us out from your inheritance, which you have given us.'

'Our Elohim, will you not judge them? For we have no strength before this great multitude that comes against us, and we do not know what we should do, for our eyes are upon you.'

'And all Yehudah stood before יהוה, also their little ones, their wives, and their children.'

'And Yaḥazi'el son of Zekharyahu, son of Benayahu, son of Ye'i'el, son of Matanyahu, the Levite, from the sons of Asaf, the Spirit of יהוה came upon him in the midst of the assembly.'

'And he said, 'Listen, all Yehudah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim, and King Yehoshafat. Thus says יהוה to you: Do not fear, and do not be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the war is not yours, but Elohim's.'

'Tomorrow, go down against them. Behold, they are coming up by the ascent of Tsits, and you will find them at the end of the wadi, in the face of the wilderness of Yeru'el.'

'You will not need to fight in this. Take your positions, stand, and see the salvation of יהוה with you, Yehudah and Yerushalayim. Do not fear, and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow, go out before them, and יהוה will be with you.'

'And Yehoshafat bowed his face to the ground, and all Yehudah and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim fell before יהוה, to worship יהוה.'

'And the Levites, from the sons of Qehath and from the sons of Korah, stood up to praise יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el, with a loud voice on high.'

'And they rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Teqo'a. And as they went out, Yehoshafat stood and said, 'Listen to me, Yehudah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim! Believe in יהוה your Elohim, and you will be established. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.'

'And he consulted with the people and appointed singers to יהוה, and those praising in holy splendor, as they went out before the armed men, saying, 'Give thanks to יהוה, for his steadfast love is forever.''

'And at the time they began with shouts and praise, יהוה set ambushes against the sons of 'Ammon, Mo'av, and Mount Se'ir, who were coming against Yehudah, and they were struck down.'

'And the sons of 'Ammon and Mo'av stood against the inhabitants of Mount Se'ir to utterly destroy and annihilate them. And when they had finished with the inhabitants of Se'ir, they helped each other to destroy.'

'And Yehudah came to the watchtower of the wilderness, and they looked toward the multitude, and behold, they were corpses fallen to the ground, and there were no survivors.'

'And Yehoshafat and his people came to plunder their spoil, and they found among them much plunder, and possessions, and corpses, and precious goods. And they took for themselves more than they could carry. And it was three days of plundering the spoil, because it was much.'

'And on the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, for there they blessed יהוה. Therefore, they called the name of that place the Valley of Blessing, until this day.'

'And all the men of Yehudah and Yerushalayim returned, and Yehoshafat at their head, to return to Yerushalayim with joy, for יהוה had made them rejoice over their enemies.'

'And they came to Yerushalayim with lutes, and harps, and trumpets, to the house of יהוה.'

'And the fear of Elohim was upon all the kingdoms of the lands when they heard that יהוה had fought against the enemies of Yisra'el.'

'And the kingdom of Yehoshafat was at peace, and his Elohim gave him rest all around.'

'And Yehoshafat reigned over Yehudah. He was thirty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-five years in Yerushalayim. And the name of his mother was 'Azuvah daughter of Shilha.'

'And he walked in the way of his father Asa, and did not turn from it, doing what was right in the eyes of יהוה.'

'However, the high places were not removed, and still the people had not prepared their hearts for the Elohim of their fathers.'

'And the rest of the deeds of Yehoshafat, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the words of Yehu son of Ḥanani, which are recorded in the book of the kings of Yisra'el.'

'And after this, Yehoshafat king of Yehudah allied himself with Aḥazyahu king of Yisra'el, who acted wickedly.'

'And he allied himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish, and they made ships in 'Etsyon Gever.'

'And Eli'ezer son of Dodavahu of Mareyshah prophesied against Yehoshafat, saying, 'Because you have allied yourself with Aḥazyahu, יהוה has broken your works.' And the ships were broken and were not able to go to Tarshish.'
