And Yehoshafat had riches and honor greatly, and he intermarried with Aḥav.

And it came to pass after years, he went down to Aḥav in Shomron. And Aḥav sacrificed sheep and cattle for him greatly, and for the people who were with him. And he incited him to go up to Ramot Gil'ad.

And Aḥav, king of Yisra'el, said to Yehoshafat, king of Yehudah, 'Will you go with me to Ramot Gil'ad?' And he said to him, 'Like me, like you; and like my people, like your people; and with you in the war.'

And Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, 'Inquire now, today, the word of יהוה.'

And the king of Yisra'el gathered the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, 'Shall we go to Ramot Gil'ad for war, or shall I refrain?' And they said, 'Go up, and Elohim will give into the hand of the king.'

And Yehoshafat said, 'Is there not here a prophet of יהוה besides, that we may inquire of him?'

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'There is yet one man to inquire of יהוה, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil all his days. He is Mikay'hu, son of Yimla.' And Yehoshafat said, 'Let not the king say so.'

And the king of Yisra'el called an officer and said, 'Quickly bring Mikay'hu, son of Yimla.'

And the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat, king of Yehudah, were sitting, each on his throne, clothed in robes, and sitting in the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Shomron. And all the prophets were prophesying before them.

And Tsidqiyahu, son of Kena'anah, made himself horns of iron, and said, 'Thus says יהוה: With these you shall gore Aram until they are finished.'

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, 'Go up to Ramot Gil'ad and succeed, and יהוה will give into the hand of the king.'

And the messenger who went to call Mikay'hu spoke to him, saying, 'Behold, the words of the prophets are with one mouth good to the king. Let your word be like one of them, and speak good.'

And Mikay'hu said, 'As יהוה lives, whatever Elohim says, that I will speak.'

And he came to the king. And the king said to him, 'Mikay'hu, shall we go to Ramot Gil'ad for war, or shall I refrain?' And he said, 'Go up and succeed, and they will be given into your hand.'

And the king said to him, 'How many times must I make you swear that you will not speak to me except truth in the name of יהוה?'

And he said, 'I saw all Yisra'el scattered on the mountains like sheep that have no shepherd. And יהוה said, 'These have no master; let each return to his house in peace.''

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?'

And he said, 'Therefore, hear the word of יהוה: I saw יהוה sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right and on his left.'

And יהוה said, 'Who will entice Aḥav, king of Yisra'el, to go up and fall at Ramot Gil'ad?' And one said thus, and another said thus.

And a spirit came out and stood before יהוה, and said, 'I will entice him.' And יהוה said to him, 'With what?'

And he said, 'I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he said, 'You will entice, and you will also succeed. Go out and do so.'

And now, behold, יהוה has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and יהוה has spoken evil concerning you.

And Tsidqiyahu, son of Kena'anah, came up and struck Mikay'hu on the cheek, and said, 'Which way did the spirit of יהוה pass from me to speak to you?'

And Mikay'hu said, 'Behold, you will see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide.'

And the king of Yisra'el said, 'Take Mikay'hu and return him to Amon, the governor of the city, and to Yo'ash, the king's son.'

And you shall say, 'Thus says the king: Put this one in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction until I return in peace.'

And Mikay'hu said, 'If you return in peace, יהוה has not spoken by me.' And he said, 'Hear, all you peoples!'

And the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat, king of Yehudah, went up to Ramot Gil'ad.

And the king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, 'Disguise yourself and come into the war, and you, put on your robes.' And the king of Yisra'el disguised himself and came into the war.

And the king of Aram commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, 'You shall not fight against the small or the great, but only against the king of Yisra'el, alone.'

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Yehoshafat, they said, 'It is the king of Yisra'el!' And they turned to fight against him. And Yehoshafat cried out, and יהוה helped him, and Elohim turned them from him.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Yisra'el, that they turned back from pursuing him.

And a man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Yisra'el between the joints and the armor. And he said to his charioteer, 'Turn your hand and take me out of the camp, for I am wounded.'

And the war continued on that day, and the king of Yisra'el was propped up in his chariot facing Aram until evening. And he died at the time the sun set.
