And Shemu'el took the flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and said, 'Has not יהוה anointed you as ruler over His inheritance?'

As you go today from me, you will find two men near the grave of Raḥel in the territory of Binyamin at Tselsa, and they will say to you, 'The female donkeys which you went to seek have been found,' and behold, your father has stopped speaking about the female donkeys and is worried about you, saying, 'What shall I do for my son?'

And you will pass from there and go on, and you will come to the terebinth tree of Tabor, and three men will meet you there, going up to Elohim at Bet-El: one carrying three young goats, and one carrying three loaves of bread, and one carrying a skin of wine.

And they will ask you for peace, and they will give you two loaves, and you will take from their hand.

After that, you will come to the hill of Elohim, where the officers of the Pelishtim are stationed. And it will be, as you come there to the city, that you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place, and before them a stringed instrument, and a tambourine, and a flute, and a lyre, and they are prophesying.

And the Spirit of יהוה will rush upon you, and you will prophesy with them, and you will be changed into another man.

And it will be, when these signs come to you, do for yourself whatever your hand finds, for Elohim is with you.

And you shall go down before me to Gilgal, and behold, I am coming down to you to offer burnt offerings, to sacrifice peace offerings. You shall wait seven days until I come to you, and I will make known to you what you shall do.

And it will be, as he turned his shoulder to go from Shemu'el, that Elohim changed his heart for him, and all these signs came about on that day.

And they came there to the hill, and behold, a band of prophets met him, and the Spirit of Elohim rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them.

And it happened, all who knew him from yesterday and the day before, saw, and behold, he was prophesying with the prophets. And the people said, each to his neighbor, 'What is this that has happened to the son of Qish? Is Sha'ul also among the prophets?'

And a man from there answered and said, 'And who is their father?' Therefore it became a proverb, 'Is Sha'ul also among the prophets?'

And he finished prophesying, and he came to the high place.

And Sha'ul's uncle said to him and to his servant, 'Where did you go?' And he said, 'To seek the female donkeys, and we saw that they were not there, and we came to Shemu'el.'

And Sha'ul's uncle said, 'Tell me, please, what did Shemu'el say to you?'

And Sha'ul said to his uncle, 'He told us that the female donkeys have been found,' but he did not tell him the matter of the kingship, which Shemu'el had spoken.

And Shemu'el called the people to יהוה at Mizpah.

And he said to the sons of Yisra'el, 'Thus says יהוה, the Elohim of Yisra'el, 'I brought Yisra'el up from Mitsrayim, and I delivered you from the hand of Mitsrayim and from the hand of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.''

'But you today have rejected your Elohim, who is your savior from all your evils and your distresses, and you have said to him, 'No, but set a king over us.' Now therefore, stand before יהוה by your tribes and by your thousands.'

And Shemu'el brought all the tribes of Yisra'el near, and the tribe of Binyamin was chosen.

And he brought the tribe of Binyamin near by its families, and the family of the Matri was chosen, and Sha'ul the son of Qish was chosen. And they sought him, but he was not found.

And they inquired further of יהוה, 'Has the man come here yet?' And יהוה said, 'Behold, he is hidden among the baggage.'

And they ran and took him from there, and he stood among the people, and he was taller than all the people from his shoulders and upward.

And Shemu'el said to all the people, 'Do you see him whom יהוה has chosen? For there is no one like him among all the people.' And all the people shouted and said, 'Long live the king!'

And Shemu'el spoke to the people the law of the kingship, and he wrote it in a scroll, and laid it up before יהוה. And Shemu'el sent all the people away, each to his house.

And Sha'ul also went to his house at Gibeah, and the army whose hearts Elohim had touched went with him.

And the worthless men said, 'How will this one save us?' And they despised him and did not bring him any gift. But he was as if deaf.
