Then Shelomoh gathered the elders of Yisra'el, all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers of the sons of Yisra'el, to King Shelomoh in Yerushalayim, to bring up the ark of the covenant of יהוה from the city of David, which is Tsiyon.

And all the men of Yisra'el gathered to King Shelomoh in the month of Ethanim, in the feast, which is the seventh month.

And all the elders of Yisra'el came, and the priests lifted the ark.

And they brought up the ark of יהוה, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent, and the priests and the Levites brought them up.

And King Shelomoh and all the assembly of Yisra'el who were gathered to him, with him, before the ark, were sacrificing sheep and cattle, which could not be counted or numbered because of their abundance.

And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of יהוה to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, into the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubim.

For the cherubim were spreading wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above.

And the poles were long, and the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place, before the inner sanctuary, and they were not seen from outside; and they are there until this day.

There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Mosheh placed there at Horeb, which יהוה made a covenant with the sons of Yisra'el when they came out of the land of Mitsrayim.

And it happened when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of יהוה.

And the priests could not stand to serve because of the cloud, for the glory of יהוה filled the house of יהוה.

Then Shelomoh said, יהוה said that He would dwell in the dark cloud.

I have surely built a house for You, a dwelling place for You to reside in forever.

And the king turned his face and blessed all the assembly of Yisra'el, and all the assembly of Yisra'el were standing.

And he said, "Blessed be יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el, who spoke with His mouth to David my father, and with His hand has fulfilled it, saying:

From the day I brought My people Yisra'el out of Mitsrayim, I did not choose any city from all the tribes of Yisra'el to build a house where My name would be, and I chose David to be over My people Yisra'el."

And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el.

And יהוה said to David my father, "Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well, because it was in your heart.

However, you shall not build the house, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the house for My name."

And יהוה has fulfilled His word which He spoke, and I have risen in place of David my father and have sat on the throne of Yisra'el, as יהוה spoke, and I have built the house for the name of יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el.

And I have placed there a place for the ark, where the covenant of יהוה is, which He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim.

And Shelomoh stood before the altar of יהוה in the presence of all the assembly of Yisra'el, and spread out his hands toward the heavens.

And he said, "יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el, there is no Elohim like You in the heavens above or on the earth below, keeping covenant and steadfast love for Your servants who walk before You with all their heart.

You have kept for Your servant David my father what You spoke to him, and You spoke with Your mouth and with Your hand have fulfilled it, as on this day.

And now, יהוה, Elohim of Yisra'el, keep for Your servant David my father what You spoke to him, saying, 'There shall not be cut off from you a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Yisra'el, only if your sons keep their way to walk before Me as you have walked before Me.'

And now, Elohim of Yisra'el, let Your word which You spoke to Your servant David my father be confirmed.

For will Elohim indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens and the heavens of heavens cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built!

But You will turn to the prayer of Your servant and to his plea, יהוה my Elohim, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant prays before You today.

That Your eyes may be open toward this house, night and day, toward the place of which You said, 'My name shall be there,' to listen to the prayer which Your servant prays toward this place.

And You will listen to the plea of Your servant and of Your people Yisra'el, when they pray toward this place; and You will listen from Your dwelling place, from the heavens, and when You listen, You will forgive.

When a man sins against his neighbor and he is made to swear an oath to him, and he comes and swears an oath before Your altar in this house.

Then You will listen from the heavens and act and judge Your servants, to declare the wicked man guilty, to put his way on his head, and to declare the righteous man righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

When Your people Yisra'el are struck down before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and they turn back to You and confess Your name and pray and make supplication to You in this house.

Then You will listen from the heavens and forgive the sin of Your people Yisra'el and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers.

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name and turn from their sins, because You will afflict them.

Then You will listen from the heavens and forgive the sin of Your servants and of Your people Yisra'el, when You teach them the good way in which they should walk, and You will give rain on Your land which You have given to Your people for an inheritance.

If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence, if there is blight, mildew, locusts, or grasshoppers; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness.

Whatever prayer, whatever plea, which may be from any man, from all Your people Yisra'el, who know each his own affliction of heart, and spread out his hands toward this house.

Then You will listen from the heavens, the place of Your dwelling, and forgive and act and give to each man according to all his ways, for You know his heart, for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of man.

So that they may fear You all the days they live on the land which You gave to our fathers.

And also concerning the foreigner who is not from Your people Yisra'el, but comes from a distant land because of Your name.

For they will hear of Your great name and of Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm, and he will come and pray toward this house.

You will listen from the heavens, the place of Your dwelling, and You will act according to all that the foreigner calls to You for, so that all the peoples of the earth may know Your name, to fear You like Your people Yisra'el, and to know that Your name is called upon this house which I have built.

For when Your people go out to war against their enemy by the way which You send them, and they pray to יהוה toward the city which You have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for Your name.

And You will hear from the heavens their prayer and their plea, and You will execute justice for them.

For they will sin against You, for there is no man who does not sin, and You will be angry with them and give them up before their enemy, and their captors will carry them away to the land of the enemy, far or near.

And they will take it to heart in the land where they have been captured, and they will turn back and make supplication to You in the land of their captors, saying, 'We have sinned, we have acted perversely, we have been wicked.'

And they will turn back to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who captured them, and they will pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, toward the city which You have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for Your name.

And You will hear from the heavens, the place of Your dwelling, their prayer and their plea, and You will execute justice for them.

And You will forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You, and You will give them compassion before their captors, and they will have compassion on them.

For they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Mitsrayim from the midst of the iron furnace.

That Your eyes may be open to the plea of Your servant and to the plea of Your people Yisra'el, to listen to them whenever they call to You.

For You have distinguished them to be Your inheritance from all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke by the hand of Mosheh Your servant, when You brought our fathers out of Mitsrayim, Adonai יהוה.

And it happened when Shelomoh finished praying to יהוה all this prayer and plea, he rose from before the altar of יהוה, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread toward the heavens.

And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Yisra'el with a loud voice, saying:

'Blessed be יהוה, who has given rest to His people Yisra'el, according to all that He spoke; not one word has failed of all His good word which He spoke by the hand of Mosheh His servant.

May יהוה our Elohim be with us, as He was with our fathers; may He not forsake us nor abandon us.

To incline our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers.

And may these words of mine, which I have pleaded before יהוה, be near to יהוה our Elohim, day and night, to execute justice for His servant and justice for His people Yisra'el, the matter of day by day.

So that all the peoples of the earth may know that יהוה, He is the Elohim; there is no other.

And may your heart be whole with יהוה our Elohim, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as on this day.

And the king and all Yisra'el with him were sacrificing a sacrifice before יהוה.

And Shelomoh sacrificed the peace offerings which he sacrificed to יהוה: twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep. And the king and all the sons of Yisra'el consecrated the house of יהוה.

On that day the king consecrated the inner part of the courtyard that was before the house of יהוה, because he offered there the burnt offering, and the grain offering, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before יהוה was too small to contain the burnt offering, and the grain offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.

And Shelomoh celebrated the feast at that time, and all Yisra'el with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Mitsrayim, before יהוה our Elohim, for seven days and seven days, fourteen days.

On the eighth day he sent the people away, and they blessed the king and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that יהוה had done for David His servant and for Yisra'el His people.
