And it happened after these matters, and Yosef said to his father, 'Behold, your father is sick.' And he took his two sons with him, Menasheh and Efrayim.

And Ya'aqov was told, and they said, 'Behold, your son Yosef is coming to you.' And Yisra'el strengthened himself and sat on the bed.

And Ya'aqov said to Yosef, 'El Shaddai appeared to me in Luz in the land of Canaan, and He blessed me.

And He said to me, 'Behold, I am making you fruitful and multiplying you, and I will give you to a gathering of peoples, and I will give this land to your seed after you, an everlasting possession.'

And now, your two sons who were born to you in the land of Mitsrayim before I came to you in Mitsrayim, they are mine. Efrayim and Menasheh, like Reuven and Shimon, they will be mine.

And your offspring, whom you fathered after them, they will be yours. In their brothers' names they will be called in their inheritance.

And I, on my way from Padan, Raḥel died on me in the land of Canaan, on the road, still a distance of a field to come to Efrat, and I buried her there on the road to Efrat; she is Bethlehem.

And Yisra'el saw Yosef's sons and said, 'Who are these?'

And Yosef said to his father, 'They are my sons, whom Elohim has given me here.' And he said, 'Bring them, please, to me, and I will bless them.'

And Yisra'el's eyes were heavy from age; he could not see. And he brought them near to him, and he kissed them, and he embraced them.

And Yisra'el said to Yosef, 'To see your face, I did not anticipate, and behold, Elohim has shown me your offspring too.'

And Yosef brought them from beside his knees, and they bowed to his face to the ground.

And Yosef took them both; Efrayim with his right hand from Yisra'el's left, and Menasheh with his left from Yisra'el's right, and he brought them near to him.

And Yisra'el sent out his right hand and placed it on Efrayim's head, and he was the younger, and his left hand on Menasheh's head; he crossed his hands, because Menasheh was the firstborn.

And he blessed Yosef and said, 'The Elohim before whom my fathers Avraham and Yitsḥaq walked, the Elohim who has been my shepherd from my youth until this day.

The angel who redeems me from all evil, may He bless the youths, and may my name and the names of my fathers Avraham and Yitsḥaq be called upon them, and may they multiply greatly in the midst of the land.'

And Yosef saw that his father placed his right hand on Efrayim's head, and it was bad in his eyes, and he took hold of his father's hand to move it from Efrayim's head to Menasheh's head.

And Yosef said to his father, 'Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Place your right hand on his head.'

And his father refused and said, 'I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will become great. However, his younger brother will become greater than him, and his offspring will become a fullness of nations.'

And he blessed them on that day, saying, 'In you Yisra'el will bless, saying, May Elohim make you like Efrayim and like Menasheh.' And he placed Efrayim before Menasheh.

And Yisra'el said to Yosef, 'Behold, I am dying, and Elohim will be with you, and He will return you to the land of your fathers.

And I, I have given you Shechem, one portion above your brothers, which I took from the hand of the Emori with my sword and my bow.'
