And the seventh month arrived, and the sons of Yisra'el were in their cities, and the people gathered themselves as one man to Yerushalayim.

And Yeshu'a the son of Yotsadaq arose, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of She'altiel, and his brothers, and they built the altar of the Elohim of Yisra'el, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the Torah of Mosheh, the man of Elohim.

And they set up the altar on its foundations, for fear was upon them from the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to יהוה, burnt offerings morning and evening.

And they kept the Feast of Booths as it is written, and burnt offerings day by day, in number according to the ordinance of the matter of the day in its day.

And after that, the continual burnt offering, and for the new moons, and for all the appointed times of יהוה that were consecrated, and for everyone who voluntarily offered a freewill offering to יהוה.

From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to יהוה, and the house of יהוה was not yet founded.

And they gave silver to the stonecutters and to the craftsmen, and food and drink and oil to the Sidonians and to the Tyrians, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Yafo, according to the permission of Koresh, king of Paras, for them.

And in the second year of their coming to the house of Elohim to Yerushalayim, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of She'altiel, and Yeshu'a the son of Yotsadaq, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all who came from the captivity to Yerushalayim, began. And they appointed the Levites from twenty years old and upward to oversee the work of the house of יהוה.

And Yeshu'a, his sons and his brothers, Qadmi'el and his sons, the sons of Yehudah, stood together to oversee the workers in the house of Elohim, the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brothers the Levites.

And the builders laid the foundation of the house of יהוה. And they set the priests, clothed in their vestments, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise יהוה, by the hand of David, king of Yisra'el.

And they answered with praise and thanksgiving to יהוה, for He is good, for His mercy is forever toward Yisra'el. And all the people shouted with a great shout when praising יהוה, because the foundation of the house of יהוה was laid.

And many of the priests and the Levites and the elders, the heads of the former house, who had seen the first house when it was founded, wept with a loud voice when this house was in their eyes. And many shouted with a shout of joy to raise their voice.

And the people could not distinguish the sound of the shout of joy from the sound of the weeping of the people, for the people were shouting with a great shout, and the sound was heard from afar.
