And the word of יהוה came to me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, saying:

Son of man, write for yourself the name of the day, concerning the very day this king of Bavel drew near to Yerushalayim, on the very day this.

And speak a parable to the house of rebellion, and you shall say to them, Thus says Adonai יהוה: Boil the pot, boil, and also pour water into it.

Gather its pieces to it, every good piece, thigh and shoulder; fill it with the best bones.

Take the best of the flock, and also pile the bones beneath it; boil its boils, yes, cook its bones within it.

Therefore, thus says Adonai יהוה: Woe to the city of bloodshed, the pot whose impurity is in it, and whose impurity has not gone out from it! For its pieces, for its pieces, take them out; a lot has not fallen upon it.

For its blood is within it, it was placed on the bare rock; it was not poured on the ground to cover it with dust.

To cause wrath, to exact vengeance, I have placed its blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.

Therefore, thus says Adonai יהוה: Woe to the city of bloodshed! I also will make the pyre large.

Pile on the wood, light the fire, cook the meat well, mix the broth, and let the bones burn.

Then set it empty on its coals, so that its bronze may become hot and its impurity may melt within it; its impurity shall be consumed, its dross.

She has labored in vain; her abundant impurity has not gone out from her, not even by fire.

In your impurity is lewdness; because I tried to cleanse you, and you were not cleansed from your impurity, you will not be cleansed again until I have satisfied my wrath upon you.

I, יהוה, have spoken; it is coming and I will act. I will not refrain, nor will I pity, nor will I relent. According to your ways and according to your deeds, they will judge you, declares Adonai יהוה.

And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, behold, I am taking from you the desire of your eyes with a plague, and you shall not mourn, nor weep, nor shall your tears come.

Groan in silence; you shall not make mourning for the dead. Bind your turban on yourself, and put your sandals on your feet. You shall not cover your upper lip, nor eat the bread of men.

And I spoke to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

And the people said to me, Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are doing this?

And I said to them, The word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Say to the house of Yisra'el, Thus says Adonai יהוה: Behold, I am profaning my sanctuary, the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and the longing of your soul. And your sons and your daughters whom you left behind will fall by the sword.

And you shall do as I have done; you shall not cover your upper lip, nor eat the bread of men.

And your turbans shall be on your heads, and your sandals on your feet. You shall not mourn, nor weep, but you shall waste away in your iniquities and groan one to another.

And Yeḥezqel shall be a sign for you; as everything he has done, you shall do when it comes. And you shall know that I am Adonai יהוה.

And you, son of man, will it not be that on the day I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, and the longing of their soul, their sons and their daughters,

on that day a survivor will come to you to report to your ears.

On that day your mouth will be opened to the survivor, and you will speak and no longer be silenced. And you will be a sign for them, and they will know that I am יהוה.
