And the word of יהוה came to me, saying:

Son of man, make known to Yerushalayim her abominations.

And you shall say, Thus says Adonai Elohim to Yerushalayim: Your origin and your birth were from the land of the Kena'ani; your father was an Emori and your mother a Ḥitti.

And as for your birth, on the day you were born, your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor were you salted, nor were you swaddled.

No eye pitied you to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were cast out upon the face of the field, in the loathing of your soul, on the day you were born.

And I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, and I said to you, In your blood, live! And I said to you, In your blood, live!

I made you numerous, like the growth of the field. And you grew and became tall, and you came to full adornment; your breasts were formed and your hair grew, yet you were naked and bare.

And I passed by you again and saw you, and behold, your time was the time of love. And I spread my wing over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares Adonai Elohim, and you became mine.

And I washed you with water and washed away your blood from you and anointed you with oil.

And I clothed you with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather, and I girded you with fine linen and covered you with silk.

And I adorned you with ornaments, and put bracelets on your hands and a necklace on your throat.

And I put a ring on your nose and earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.

And you adorned yourself with gold and silver, and your clothing was fine linen and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, honey, and oil, and you became exceedingly beautiful, and prospered into royalty.

And your fame went out to the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect because of my splendor that I put on you, declares Adonai Elohim.

But you trusted in your beauty and played the harlot because of your name, and poured out your promiscuity on everyone who passed by; it became his.

And you took some of your clothing and made for yourself high places of varied colors and played the harlot on them; it shall not happen, nor shall it be.

And you took your beautiful vessels of my gold and my silver, which I gave you, and made for yourself images of males and played the harlot with them.

And you took your embroidered garments and covered them, and my oil and my incense you set before them.

And my bread, which I gave you, fine flour, oil, and honey, with which I fed you, you set before them as a pleasing aroma, and it became so, declares Adonai Elohim.

And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore to me, and sacrificed them to them to be devoured. Is it not enough of your promiscuity?

And you slaughtered your children and gave them up by causing them to pass through the fire to them.

And all your abominations and your promiscuity, you did not remember the days of your youth when you were naked and bare, wallowing in your blood.

And it came to pass after all your wickedness, woe, woe to you, declares Adonai Elohim.

And you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every square.

At every head of the way you built your high place and made your beauty an abomination, and you spread your legs to everyone who passed and multiplied your promiscuity.

And you played the harlot with the sons of Mitsrayim, your neighbors, men of great flesh, and multiplied your promiscuity to provoke me.

And behold, I stretched out my hand against you and reduced your portion, and I gave you into the hand of the women who hate you, the daughters of the Pelishtim, who are ashamed of your lewd way.

And you played the harlot with the sons of Ashshur, though you were not satisfied, and you played the harlot, and still were not satisfied.

And you multiplied your promiscuity in the land of Kena'an, even to Kasdim, and still, you were not satisfied.

How weakened is your heart, declares Adonai Elohim, in doing all these things, the deeds of a brazen harlot!

In building your mound at the head of every road and your high place in every square, you were not like a harlot to receive payment.

An adulterous woman takes strangers instead of her husband.

To all harlots they give gifts, but you gave your gifts to all your lovers and bribed them to come to you from all around because of your promiscuity.

And in your promiscuity, you were different from other women; you did not follow them, for you gave payment and no payment was given to you; and so you were different.

Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of יהוה.

Thus says Adonai Elohim: Because your impurity was poured out and your nakedness was uncovered in your promiscuity with your lovers and with all the idols of your abominations, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,

Therefore, behold, I am gathering all your lovers, with whom you were pleased, and all whom you loved, and all whom you hated; I will gather them against you from all around and uncover your nakedness to them, and they will see all your nakedness.

And I will judge you with the judgment of adulteresses and those who shed blood, and I will give you blood of fury and jealousy.

And I will give you into their hand, and they will tear down your mound and demolish your high places, and they will strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful vessels, and leave you naked and bare.

And they will bring a crowd against you, and they will stone you with stones and cut you down with their swords.

And they will burn your houses with fire and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women. And I will stop your prostitution, and you will no longer give payment.

And I will cause my fury to rest on you, and my jealousy will turn away from you, and I will be quiet and will no longer be angry.

Because you did not remember the days of your youth, and you provoked me with all these things, I also, behold, I have put your way on your head, declares Adonai Elohim, and you have not done this lewdness in addition to all your abominations.

Behold, everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: Like her mother, so is her daughter.

You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children. And you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Ḥitti and your father an Emori.

And your elder sister is Shomron, she and her daughters, who dwell to your left. And your younger sister, who dwells to your right, is Sodom and her daughters.

And you did not walk in their ways, nor did you do according to their abominations, but almost less, and you corrupted yourself more than they in all your ways.

As I live, declares Adonai Elohim, Sodom your sister and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done.

Behold, this was the iniquity of Sodom your sister: pride, abundance of food, and prosperous ease were hers and her daughters', and she did not help the hand of the afflicted and the needy.

And they became haughty and committed an abomination before me, and I removed them when I saw it.

And Shomron, not half of your sins, did not sin. And you multiplied your abominations more than they, and you justified your sisters by all your abominations which you committed.

You also, bear your shame, for you have judged your sister. Because of your sins, in which you committed abominations more than they, they are more righteous than you. So you also be ashamed and bear your shame, for you have justified your sisters.

And I will restore their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Shomron and her daughters, and the captivity of your captives among them.

So that you may bear your shame and be ashamed of all that you did in comforting them.

And your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, will return to their former state, and Shomron and her daughters will return to their former state, and you and your daughters will return to your former state.

And your sister Sodom was not a subject of talk from your mouth in the day of your pride.

Before your wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram and all her surroundings, the daughters of the Pelishtim who scorn you from all sides.

You have borne your lewdness and your abominations, declares יהוה.

For thus says Adonai Elohim: I will deal with you as you have dealt, you who despised an oath by breaking a covenant.

But I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish with you an everlasting covenant.

And you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you take your elder sisters to your younger ones, and I will give them to you as daughters, but not by your covenant.

And I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am יהוה.

So that you may remember and be ashamed, and never again open your mouth because of your shame, when I make atonement for you for all that you have done, declares Adonai Elohim.
