In that night, sleep fled from the king, and he said to bring the scroll of remembrance, the matters of the days, and they were read before the king.

And it was found written that Mordekhay had reported about Bigtan and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, doorkeepers of the threshold, who had sought to lay hand on King Ahasuerus.

And the king said, 'What honor and greatness has been done to Mordekhay for this?' And the king's servants, his attendants, said, 'Nothing has been done for him.'

And the king said, 'Who is in the courtyard?' And Haman had come to the outer courtyard of the king's house to tell the king to hang Mordekhay on the stake that he had prepared for him.

And the king's servants said to him, 'Behold, Haman is standing in the courtyard.' And the king said, 'Let him come in.'

And Haman came in, and the king said to him, 'What should be done to the man whom the king desires to honor?' And Haman said in his heart, 'To whom would the king desire to do honor more than me?'

And Haman said to the king, 'To the man whom the king desires to honor.'

Let them bring royal clothing which the king has worn, and a horse which the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal crown has been placed.

And let the clothing and the horse be given into the hand of one of the king's noble officials, and let them clothe the man whom the king desires to honor, and let them cause him to ride on the horse in the city square, and let them proclaim before him, 'Thus shall be done to the man whom the king desires to honor.'

And the king said to Haman, 'Hurry! Take the clothing and the horse, just as you have spoken, and do so to Mordekhay the Yehudite who sits at the king's gate. Let nothing of all that you have spoken fall.'

And Haman took the clothing and the horse, and he clothed Mordekhay, and caused him to ride in the city square, and proclaimed before him, 'Thus shall be done to the man whom the king desires to honor.'

And Mordekhay returned to the king's gate, and Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered.

And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his loved ones everything that had happened to him. And his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, 'If Mordekhay is from the seed of the Yehudim, before whom you have begun to fall, you will not be able to overcome him, for you will surely fall before him.'

While they were still speaking with him, the king's eunuchs arrived and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Ester had made.
