And in the second year of the reign of Nebukhadnezzar, Nebukhadnezzar dreamed dreams, and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep was taken from him.

And the king said to call the magicians, and the sorcerers, and the enchanters, and the Chaldeans, to tell the king his dreams. And they came and stood before the king.

And the king said to them, I dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream.

And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, 'O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will show the interpretation.'

And the king answered and said to the Chaldeans, 'The word is gone from me. If you do not make the dream and its interpretation known to me, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.'

But if you tell the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive gifts and reward and great honor from me. Therefore, tell me the dream and its interpretation.'

They answered a second time and said, 'Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will show the interpretation.'

The king answered and said, 'I know for certain that you are buying time, because you see that the word has gone from me.'

If you do not make the dream known to me, there is but one decree for you. You have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me until the time changes. Therefore, tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can show me its interpretation.'

And the Chaldeans answered before the king and said, 'There is not a man on the earth who can show the king's matter, because no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician, or sorcerer, or Chaldean.'

And the thing that the king asks is difficult, and no other can show it to the king except the Elohim whose dwelling is not with flesh.'

Because of this, the king was furious and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

And the decree went out, and the wise men were being killed, and they sought Daniel and his companions to be killed.

Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch, the captain of the guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon.

He answered and said to Arioch, the commander of the king, 'Why is the decree so hasty from the king?' Then Arioch made the matter known to Daniel.

And Daniel went in and asked the king for time, that he might show the interpretation to the king.

Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions.

And they asked for mercy from the Elohim of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the Elohim of heaven.

Daniel answered and said, 'Blessed be the name of the Elohim forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His.'

And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.

To You, O Elohim of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for You have given me wisdom and might, and now You have made known to me what we asked of You, for You have made known the king's matter.'

Therefore, because of this, Daniel went in to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said to him, 'Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon. Bring me before the king, and I will show the interpretation to the king.'

Then Arioch brought Daniel before the king in haste and said to him, 'I have found a man from the exiles of Yehudah who will make the interpretation known to the king.'

The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, 'Are you able to make known to me the dream that I saw and its interpretation?'

Daniel answered before the king and said, 'The mystery that the king is asking about, the wise men, the sorcerers, the magicians, and the diviners cannot show to the king.'

But there is an Elohim in heaven who reveals mysteries, and He has made known to King Nebukhadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed are these:

As for you, O king, your thoughts came upon your bed about what will be after this, and He who reveals mysteries made known to you what will be.

But as for me, this mystery has not been revealed to me because of wisdom that I have more than any living being, but for the sake of showing the interpretation to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

You, O king, were watching, and behold, a great image. This image, which was large and of exceeding brightness, stood before you, and its appearance was frightening.

This image's head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze,

its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

You were watching till a stone was cut out without hands, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces.

Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were all broken in pieces together and became like chaff from the threshing floors of summer. And the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

This is the dream, and we will tell its interpretation before the king.

You, O king, are the king of kings, to whom the Elohim of heaven has given dominion, strength, and might, and glory.

And wherever the children of man dwell, the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens He has given into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are the head of gold.

And after you shall arise another kingdom, inferior to you, and a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.

And there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because as iron crushes and breaks in pieces all things, so shall it break in pieces and crush all these.

And whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it the strength of iron, because you saw iron mixed with clay.

And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle.

And whereas you saw iron mixed with common clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men; but they shall not adhere to one another, even as iron does not mix with clay.

And in the days of those kings the Elohim of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, and this kingdom shall not be left to another people. It shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Because you saw that a stone was cut from the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. The great Elohim has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is trustworthy.'

Then King Nebukhadnezzar fell on his face and bowed down to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and sweet incense be offered to him.

The king answered Daniel and said, 'Truly, your Elohim is the Elohim of elohim and Adonai of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, since you were able to reveal this mystery.'

Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over all the province of Babylon and chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.

And Daniel asked of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon, but Daniel remained at the king's court.
